TYLER MERRIAM INTERVIEW with Coach Nagy

THIS IS A GAME WITH 19 LEAD CHANGES, 12 TIES, LET THEM PLAY, PHYSICAL GAME, TWO GOOD TEAMS...ONE TO REMEMBER A LONG TIME.

Yeah, two good teams played good defensively. Man, we missed some open shots. Normally we make them. I thought it was great that Nate struggled and we won. Good for our team so we know we don't have to rely on Nate. He's not 100% and tweaked it again tonight. Most happy for Tony and the way our team responded to him in the lockerroom. Fun to watch.

      REBOUNDING -- OUTREBOUNDED THEM BY 13. 15 OFFENSIVE. 22 SECOND-CHANCE POINTS.
When shooting 37% on the road and win, have to be doing something else well. Rebounding.

We almost had three guys with double doubles.

9 OF 11 FROM FREE THROW.

Neither team got there. They just let them go and that's fine with me, they were consistent and let them play.

      BENCH:

Taeyvaunn kept the ball alive on one and we made a three on it. He'll keep coming back.

      TEAM GREW UP?

Well, last time were here, got beat by about 40. Don't remember much about that. On the way over here I was thinking I couldn't remember much of that game. Everytime we play seems its the biggest game. But, we know we haven't played well and haven't won road game but great for our journey, great for our kids...great to know we played good defense. If we can win that way (with poor offense), we can win any game.

Probably as good as Montana is, they're probably the weakest of the three teams we're going to play on this road trip.

      BELMONT:

They're battle tested. Played Kansas tonight. Tough veteran team. We did a good job taking care of the three.

Really proud of all of them. We made a lot of mistakes tonight...really frustrated with that cuz didn't need to go into overtime but it did and the kids battled back and I'm real proud of them.

Great win Rabbits! Waiting for the parking lot to clear out. Saw about 8 other Jacks fans scattered in the arena. Fun game to watch. Even more fun that we won.

Well, I guess if Nate wants to play in the Association then he's gonna have to figure out how to play on one leg the rest of the year.

My dad owned KYNT in Yankton while I was growing up, He wanted me to work there but I knew better, as in I would stink as an announcer, so I went another direction.

I thought this going into the 3-game non-conference road trip. Belmont got waxed by Kansas tonight, but then, a lot of folks are getting waxed by Kansas right now. I'm not so sure that the easier of the two remaining non-con games is going to be the New Mexico game.

Belmont's gonna come out against the Jacks with Something To Prove after their experience in Allen Fieldhouse tonight.

We will be ok these kids are 21 years old. There next game is in 4 days if that's not enough rest then we aren't in game shape.

                    So, I'm right then?

No, never mind. Another aphorism: "when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging." My eyes are about ground-level in this particular hole right now.

I have met JVG a few times. He is a very nice person. I just don't care for his style, but that may be because of my allegiance to the Jacks. I just get very annoyed with his constant complaining about the refs. It seems like he never agrees with a call....never. Tyler seems to agree more often than not with the calls.

With out fiegen playing so consistant this year he has to be co-mvp with wolters. With out 100 percent wolters fiegen is the only consistant player for a while game. While and carlson and dykstra have been to inconsistant but have made huge contributions to help us win. Since we have been winning some tough close games along with losing a few. Would love to seen that progress we made about this point last year and win by a more comfortable margin.

I noticed (again) tonight that Tyler's call gets excited when somebody makes a good play--it doesn't matter which team. If you weren't paying close attention tonight you wouldn't have known he was the visiting radio p-b-p announcer calling good plays by the home team around their basket.

                            I was impressed.
