I suppose I should remind some, and inform others, that smack talk is to be confined to the smack section only, where we try to keep the really excessive chest-puffing, character-impugning, institution-denigrating, or just plain mean posts--to the extent possible, anyway.
We've pretty much let things go tonight, just to be good hosts and stuff, but we (moderators) will probably start gently ushering any less polite posts toward the smack section, beginning tomorrow.
Washington does have some good talent on the team but they are nowhere near the complete team that Baylor has. I just took a look at the box score from the Washington game. SDSU was flaming hot from three (63%) and shot about 55% from the field. That is as near perfect as you can play. It is a good feather in SDSU's cap, but the issue is that Washington isn't even in the top 50 RPI. They were the regular season Pac 12 conference winners and didn't get an invite to the tourney....i.e. the Pac 12 was historically bad this year.
Trust me, we are all aware of the shortcomings of the Pac 12 and UW this year. That aside, our guys socked them in the nose on their court and dominated the Pac 12 regular season champs. That doesn't happen if you don't have some ability. A 3 seed doesn't beat a 14 without playing damn near perfect and even then if the 3 seed plays reasonably well it still likely a loss. Cinderella always needs a little help. I think SDState can be that Cinderella. Do I expect it? Hell no.

We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
The post I responded to did not refer to wins, it did not refer to statistical excellence, it referred merely to 'talent' and 'athletic ability' which are more or less matters of opinion. I stated mine. I'm sorry if it offends.
Just trying to shake things up.... Love this time of year! Good luck and hats off for making the Tourney! See you Thurs.
O great we are fighting already..... Let me tell it how I see it..... Baylor might be the number 3-4 team in the nation in terms of talent. They are that good, last year after it was all over I said #1 seed for Baylor next year. However when it comes to Baylor, they have a tendency to not play any defense, and to play stupidly on offense. They are like Carolina but with larger extremes, a team when they are firing are a national champ contender, when they don't really care, or think its easy, they are beatable.
I think SDSU got a hose on the seed, and for that I thought Baylor got a tough draw. RPI, SDSU is a 12 seed, most had them as a 13 seed, and to have them as the lowest 14th seed I just don't understand, especially when they say that ORU was one of the last 6 out, and from the reports it was going to be a vote between ORU and Drexel if St. Bonnies would have lost. Which meant that ORU would have been in the play in 13 seed game, and therefore a higher seed then the champ of the league who split the season with them.
I think if SDSU plays solid defense, rebounds well, and shoots lights out they have a shot, I just think that is very hard to do.

It doesn't offend, it's just wrong. I'd say "there's nothing wrong with being wrong" but, well . . .

And to think we went to the tournament and cheered for SDSU in the finals. FWIW, I have seen Baylor play 3 times this year in person, the Jacks 3 times, and if you play them to a 14 point game you should be proud. As good as Wolters is, I feel Baylors guards will expose him, and Quintin (sp) Acey will own your bigs. All that being said, good luck.
I bet you have seen everyone in person three times this year EXCEPT FOR THE COYOTES! So it is worth nothing. move on.

Dude, it's not even wrong. It's an opinion. Like if someone says, "Brussels Sprouts are like the best vegetable you will ever eat." and I say, "No way, carrots totally rule." Neither one of us are wrong.
I mean really, "Most talented"? How you gonna measure that? You gonna go down to the hardware store and buy a Stanley 25 Talent Tape measure and see which team has more talents?
I was wrong about NBA draft prospects at Baylor, but on the whole "More athletic" "more talented" thing? That's just bluster and show-offery.
