Those last two home games against WIU and IUPUI are NOT going to be "gimmes".

Just remember what happened in Washington after the UND loss.

Poor shooting nights happen.....but how could the defensive intensity vary so much from ORU to USD. That is the part that is unacceptable. Until that gets fixed we aren't going anywhere, this year or in the future.

Agreed. This team didn't do anything until they started to buy into the defensive side of things. Seems to me that when we play teams with less talent like UND, USD, and to a certain extent Oakland they seem to lose focus on the defensive side of the ball. Those lapses killed us with Louie the first 15 minutes of this game and Bader the whole game.

When your team is 19-6, with wins over teams like ORU, Oakland and Washington, you like to think your team is very good and will take care of business against inferior opponents, rivalry or not.

But...When your 19-6 team loses to a what....8-14? team, rivalry or not, you realize they aren't very good, they're only just good.

This team better figure it out, or we're screwed when Wolters graduates.

            Ok, I'm done.

              ^^^^^ This

There isn't an individual player I fear more in the league than Alex Young. He isn't the best player in the league because he isn't always consistent, but we he hot he is unguardable.

At least losing to USD is a rivalry loss. We lost to UMKC tonight. Ugly.

These guys still don't get the need for defense ALL the time. USD ran the same little weave all night long waiting for someone to lapse = and more often than not, we did.

Posted this on this string Tuesday .... Feels weirdly like a trap game even though the team should have no trouble getting up...

Felt strangely about this matchup all week and just wished I'd have been right about the team getting up for the game... Hard to beat anyone, even an eight-win team, when you don't play the first 10 minutes of the game. We won the last 30 by double digits.

I think that this team will be fine. We tend to forget that, for all the success this year, this team is still learning what it is like to be a winning program.

I at the beginning of the year, someone would have told me that this team would be 19-6, crushed a PAC-12 team on the road, and have the inside track to a #2 seed I would have maybe asked them to share their beer. But, the Jackrabbits have taken huge steps forward this year, but even with the improvements I think we all knew there would be a couple steps back. This is one of those steps back, but in Sioux FAlls we will have an opportunity to forget all about those steps and learn a few new dance steps.

On the other hand, I thought at the beginning of this season that we were really one year away from legitimately being a serious threat for the conference championship. I figure we're on or slightly ahead of schedule. And, there's a reason this team has seven losses now, and not three or four. They're a good team. They're not a REALLY good team.

Next year, they MIGHT be a REALLY good team. This year, they're still showing flashes, but not the steady intense flame that really good teams burn with night in and night out.

I was in Brookings and took my beating like a man. I was humbled and made NO excuses. The crowd played a large factor into your loss much like the crowd did it to us in Brookings. When Goon says we couldn't miss, just check the stats. Tonight, our bigs (as small as they are) beat your bigs handily. It's a rivalry game. Tonight we were better, that's all.I wii be sitting in SF cheering for you. Good luck the balance of the season. In all candor, after the beating we took in Brookings, I didn't see this coming.

Wasn't that fun? The Yotes were no friend of the Rabbits in the D1 transition and now a SDSU loss. The Argus Leader game blog was almost comical with childish banter from each side. Well the bright side is we don't have to cross paths again until next November (football).

This is spot on. We may have shot poorly from the outside, but we were very poor on the interior tonight offensively and defensively. If these two aspect show up, we win handily regardless of our shooting performance.

Interior play has been much better this year (especially in the ORU game), but there is still plenty of room for improvement.
