Well Michael Carter-Williams played Michigan yesterday and when 1-6 from the field, 0-2 from 3, had 2 Assists and 5 TO's and fouled out of the game, never made it to the free throw line and ended with 2 points. Not sure that he "raised his stock" with that performance.

Was interesting to watch the college "all-star" game this afternoon from Atlanta. Not sure how Nate could make third team AA in two separate listings that take into account all 4 classes (freshman through seniors) and not be in the group of 30 seniors playing in this game.

Didn't Nate decline on some post-season stuff?

The Sports Illustrated issue I referred in my prior post was received in the mail Thursday or Friday so the writer didn't have the benefit of the most recent Michigan game and may have made his comments after the round SDSU played against Michigan.

I would love to know which team this guy's a scout for. Methinks it is not a good one.

A competent scout would be aware that the rest of the team's poor perimeter shooting meant that there was only one guy on the team that Michigan had to worry about: The guy that can create his own shot.

I have seen that Nate turned down an invite to the Portsmouth camp , but didn't see anything about All-Star games.

I like Chris Mannix but I have a problem with him writing this article, he didn't watch any college basketball during the year. Basically looked at some list and watched one game. I think what he was saying about Wolters was he could have made a big impression by having a big game.

My guess is Nate turned down the All-Star game, if he turned down the Portsmouth camp because he wanted to gear up for workouts, he probably turned down the all-star games as well.

After watching Trey Burke in the Championship Game last night it sure gave me a whole new level of respect for the defensive effort that Nate Wolters did against him. Burke had 24 points while missing half of the first half with foul problems.

Just another example of how good of an overall complete play Nate is. Someone is going to get a really good player/person in the draft when they choose Nate.

Want some more perspective on Wolters' defensive performance? Take a look at Trey Burke's game-by-game stats (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bask...670/trey-burke).

- His season-low in points was 6, vs. SDSU.
- He was held to single digits only twice: vs. SDSU and Syracuse.
- He averaged 17.4 points per game in the tournament and 19.2 for the season.
- Six points against SDSU for the national player of the year. Enough said.

While Nate had a nice defensive performance against Burke, he also had a lot of help from his teammates. He won't get that kind of help in the NBA.

I know I'm the negative Nancy today, and I'm just going to say it - I think he's destined for a life in the D-League or overseas. It takes truly elite players to make an NBA team and hang onto a NBA roster spot. Everytime I watch an NBA game I am clearly reminded of that. Just take a look at all the exceptional college players that flamed out when their NBA time came.

With that in mind, I hope he proves me wrong.

I hope he can prove all of us wrong, although I'm not sure he will be able to make it either. The other way to look at the game against Michigan is that Trey Burke also had a lot of help with Nate and he won't face that in the NBA either. Nate drew the majority of the attention that game, can't see that happening at the next level.

The NBA has the best athletes and coaches in the world. I cannot believe that they would not help Nate Wolters defensively, just as he would help them. Nate Wolters will play in the NBA. He has the ability to play at that level.

Wolters is good enough, with the NBA its more right situation then anything else. He could make the Lakers, be the last guy they cut in camp, be good enough to be on 15 rosters, but since its that late no one will sign him, he doesn't want to sit around and wait for the D-League so he goes over the Europe for big money. Does that mean he is not good enough to play in the NBA? There are people in Europe right now that are GOOD ENOUGH to play in the NBA. Its just being hot at the right place at the right time. The big thing will be if Nate can be a 1st round draft pick because then its a guaranteed contract. Whether or not he is, will depend on his workouts and who all enters the draft.

Wolters led South Dakota State to a Summit League Tournament Championship to earn his team an automatic bid in the NCAA Tournament. Wolters was named Summit League Men’sTournament MVP.

The role of an agent represents something different, but often agents can be very selective in who they represent. Nate apparently had a choice in this decision. Jared Karnes might know some things we dont, so it might not be a good idea to write Nate off a career in Europe. Lets see how this all works out.

Two former legends got tryouts with NBA franchises, Jim Sutton with the Boston Celtics and Don Jacobsen with the Syracuse franchise, and yes they did have a NBA franchise once upon a time, but neither of them were serious enough to consider hiring an agent. The Wolters situation is more serious. Of course more recent King Ling played a season or two in the NBA. No doubt the NBA market has changed over the years, and it's more competitive each year.


Do any of you recall Woodside hiring an agent? (Wolters vs Woodside comparsion was done over on Bisonville with Woody coming out on top in most posts, so if Wolters is following a path, the Woodside path seems the likely comparison.)
