Wow! That's pretty impressive to have your own website for your basketball career in high school.

            More news on Cam:

            http://www.brandonsun.com/displayad.cgi?adnum=1019

ALL-CANADIAN CAGERS: Five Winnipeggers have been selected in a group of 85 boys high school basketball players that will eventually be pared down for this year's adidas All-Canadian High School Basketball Game in Mississauga, Ont. Chris Cobb of Jeanne Sauve, Cam Hornby of Glenlawn, Grant Rayner of Fort Richmond, Xavier Smith of Sisler and Cyril Indome of J.H. Bruns are all in the running for one of 20 spots available on the nationally-televised game that is slated for April 9 at the Hershey Centre.

            Good luck to Cam! 8)

            Go State! ;D

I'm sure that's right. When you think about it, it's probably a good investment. If his goal is to play DI basketball in the U.S., and get a free college education, Cam will get a good return on his family's investment. I would suggest there are probably some South Dakota kids who could try the same thing.

I second OK's comments and there is nothing wrong with tooting your horn. The world is competitive and the quicker one adjusts and competes, the better and the quicker are the results that begin to accumulate.

I dont get "D" comments over on Bisonville about our two big men that are coming in next year. He said in effect that our two are nothing but bags of bones. I have never seen either play so dont know what he is talking about.

He made the same snide remarks over on D2 football regarding our two big men that are coming in next year. D using another handle Corella over on D2Football said this about SDSU:

I think things will get worse next year for the SDSU men.  They have a team that seriously can't cut it against D2 teams right now, and against D1 teams next year things will only, obviously, be that much more difficult about 3/4 of the time.  And they really don't have much help on the way for next year.  Their guards are terrible.  Wenig, the best shooter in the program, left school.  They are redshirting 2 FR, one, Andre Gilbert, is a great athlete but plays like he is at Rucker Park and doesn't play within the system.  The other, Matt Caldwell, is a pretty good player who may be stuck as a tweener guard, too short for the 2 yet not exactly having the skills for the point.  They have signed 2 6-10 guys early, but their bodies make Kevin Garnett look like the world's strongest man, each weighing about 200, so they cannot be counted on for next year either.  They need JUCO guys, but recruiting JUCOs at the D1 and D2 levels are completely different and they would have to settle for ones that are not that skilled and talented.  Signs point to things getting worse before they get better "

I dont know who this Corella guy is other than being a UND flickertail fan but at times he sounds like a person on Rich Glas's staff. I dont know but very curious.  By the way I have found access to SiouxSports.Com, but they dont know it. ;D  There is something about the NCC that you just can't leave alone and behind.
Especially when "D" aka Corella hates SDSU and is constantly taking us to task.

Is there anyone besides "D" who has heard we actually have a commitment from this kid? If "D" is a Sioux fan, what's to say he didn't find this kid online and start a rumor that he's coming to SDSU? Just saying.

If someone wants to get some real info on this kid go to www.canadianbasketball.net/chtboard and do some asking. These guys are pretty knowledgeable about their basketball. You can start on the High School thread, but if you get no love try the CIS thread. I'd go, but I'm not welcome there.

My dad has watched one of our future big guys play and was very impressed. Said he definitely needs to add weight, but he had some really nice touch around the basket and didn't have that "feet can't keep up with his brain" look that most unskilled tall players have. In fact, my dad wasn't even aware he was a SDSU recruit when describing him to me. When I told him he was going to be a Jack in the future, he was even more impressed. By the way, my entire family is made up of college basketball players - Mike_H knows most of them well and could verify. They know a thing or two about bball talent when they see it.

If these big guys were can't miss prospects and didn't have somewhat of a "project" label to them then guess what they wouldn't be coming to SDSU. Everyone want's that big dominate center and our coaching staff has the opportunity to develop two of them. If our coaching staff is everything we think they are they will help these guys reach their potential. I think assistant Andy Cone is an example who improved dramatically during his career and he can pass on that knowledge.

I believe it was one of the other posters on this site that started the talk of Hornby verbally commiting to us. I know he visited campus a couple weeks ago.

He has to be pretty committed to bball in order to go through all that work for the website, i don't care if it is kind of dorky, the kid is 5'11 at best and has hops.

MJA is right, he is a football player in a basketball family.

The recruits that signed with SDSU have been compared most often to Eric Mergen, the 6'9" kid out of Dell's St. Mary's that is at Mankato. Yes, they are projects, but big kids that can run are never a bad thing.

I was impressed with Eric Mergen in the state tournament. Did the Jacks make a run at him? Who has more college potential Eric or Rane who is going to USD?

Nagy sounded excited and confident in the NDSU Postgame show about where they are at in terms of securing top recruits with the remaining scholarships available. He mentioned they have one committ which I assume is (Cam Hornby) and will get two more in addition to the two 6'10 Minnesota kids. Look forward to hearing the official announcements on who this is. Nagy has also expressed a lot of confidence in the abilities of Cadwell and Gilbert.

So far next seasons recruits look like this (assuming Hornby committed)
                                6-10 Mark Engen-C
                                6-10 Bob Bilitz-C
                                6-5 Blake Yackley -G
                                6-0 Cam Hornby-PG
That leaves two more scholarships out there, Is the official signing date in April?
