Hm . . . Jamestown's got a pretty good program although I have no idea how they're doing this year. If SDSMT is sniffing around, he might be interested in engineering.

Walk-on at SDSU, maybe? Wouldn't turn down a quality walk-on.

Well, on the other hand, he's been on the Dakota Schoolers . . . he might be one we want to go after. Anybody actually seen Herman play?

Spoke with a former AD of a DAC10 school today, he was raving about the talent of Mike Steffon of Mt. Vernon. Sounds like he would like to play basketball too. Describe him as a young Chad Greenway, only a little bit bigger and better ;D

I watched Belle play St. Thomas More last night in Belle, and Herman was definately the focus of 3/5 of the Cavs D. I know an assistant at Belle, and he is pretty high on Herman - both as a player and a high-character kid.

He's big, he can shoot, and is skilled - they do rely on him to do anything important to that team. He's got a winning attitude...wouldn't be upset to see him walk on, and let him earn his spot.

I think it would strengthen the depth of the Jacks in football and basketball if we saw some of the guys who maybe haven't shown enough in high school to earn a full scholarship to walk on and earn a scholarship. Recruiting is a gamble no matter what credentials or reputation a player comes in with. Take a look at the starting center for the Gophers (Jeff Hagen) he came in as a 7 foot walk on who was overweight and not a very good basketball player but he stayed with it and has turned out to be a pretty good player who has earned that scholarship and will most likely get a chance to play overseas or earn a living playing basketall somewhere. Granted it doesn't hurt being 7 foot.

            GoJacks02,
What assistant do you know at Belle? I know one on their staff too who is a former rabbit himself (student not player).

              1979...

I know Mathew Raba, the assistant quoted in the RC Journal Story. We were students at State together, and he is from a town very close to my hometown.

And, if your 79 is your birth year and not the year you graduated from State, then I am just going to assume we know each other pretty well.

Is Mathew Raba the guy on the Belle staff that you know, or is it just an amazing coincidence that we both know and went to school with one of the two assistants on the staff and are both about the same age?

                        Re: 2005 Recruits`

Did a little snooping on the internet and came across a poster on a Canadian basketball site topic about Canadians top players and he had this to say about Cam Hornsby "Exceptional standout at Nike Camp, played well at the Provincial Tourney and ppl say he played kinda like Steve Nash". I had made a joke earlier regarding a Steve Nash comparison and just maybe we are getting a player with a similiar style.

Will Cam be bringing along the Steve Nash haircut? Hopefully not.

I hope he brings Steve's brash toughness and creativity.
