Disappointed that I have to work and miss this one tonight. Go Jacks.

        Re: ORU

Was going to start a new thread but decided not to interrupt the pre-ORU thread. Big game. Go Jacks.
Looked at OOC schedule leading into confernece season and the Iowa win remains biggest, obviously. Hawkeyes are 7-6 since we beat them, with signature wins over Wake Forest and UNI. They've played two contending Big 10 foes - Ilinois and Ohio State - very tough at home.
Idaho State is 3-7 since we kerblastificated them but one of their wins was a 21-point kerblastificiation of UMKC.
Nevada is 2-6 since we schooled them in Brookings; one win was over a decent Hawaii team
Eastern Illinois is 3-4 since we beat them the second time. Signature win for the season: Bradley.
Real problem with OOC was that home Summitt loss to the Bizun stuck in the midst.
Had Jacks won that, a really good year so far would look x-times brighter today (12-3 and 4-0 in Summit, rather than 11-4 and 3-1, seems noticeably more impressive).... Jacks owe Bizun big time. Gotta get 'em in Fargo.

I agree, that loss to NDSU hurts more then people want to admit. If we win up there and slpit, it might change my mind, but thats tough to lose a confrence game at home to a team we are more then capable of beating.

            Re: ORU

Well, I have been over on the ORU boards talking about this one more than I have been here. But, here are my thoughts...

ORU got kind of jobbed up in Fargo. I expect Sutton to have them very fired up w/ a "us vs. the world" mindset.

I think DBH and Roundtree are going to give us fits. I predict Roundtree is their MVP tonight. Bell-Holter (DBH) is just a load and can really bang down low and Roundtree plays w/ a chip on his shoulder and always seems to be around the rim and around the ball. Roundtree is a jumper, shotblocker who will be going after every offensive rebound (remind you of a certain NDSU player?).

I hear Stokes is out too and that ORU has 8 bodies tonight.

We are, easily, the better shooting team. With DoMo out the guy we really need to worry about making shots (3-pntrs) is Niles (#12). Other than that I would suggest playing off and trying to help defend the paint. If Holdman or McClintock get hot then we can adjust, but I'll take my chances.

ORU has not been good at guarding the 3-pt line this year. This, obviously, could be a HUGE factor in the game if we make our shots. Obviously this is key #1. If we make our treys it makes everything else much easier.

Make em chase...mmake em go up and down the floor....rotate often...let all three of Dykstra, Fiegen and Heemstra get in there early and often and rotate the guards as needed. Wear their shorthanded team down.

It will really hurt them if we could get DBH or Roundtree in any kind of foul trouble.

ORU has been on the road for a week and has lost 8 or their last 9.

I worry our young team sees ORU's record and injured roster and takes them for granted. The guys that take the floor tonight for ORU are very good athletes. They are still bigger than us and I fear they want this more. I am afraid we won't match their intensity.

I predict an ugly game and ORU beating us up underneath and a 71-65 ORU win.

              Re: ORU

The NDSU loss stings, no doubt. But I said it then and I'll say it now. I'm not sure that wasn't the best thing we could've asked for. You never want a conference home loss, and to your rival no doubt, but they out-toughed us that night and I know alot of the guys felt awful about it. We'll see if that lesson was taken to heart b/c I expect ORU to do the exact same thing tonight.

I would remind the kids every game how NDSU, came into our house, punched us square in the mouth and took a win from us simply by outhustling and outrebounding us. And to never forget how that felt.

Again, my #1 worry tonight is our young team doesn't know what ORU is all about and how many tough places and tough games those guys have been in. They might be 5-12 or whatever but they are no joke.

ORU is just as young. From what I saw, their two best players with Morrison and Craion out are a freshman and sophomore (Roundtree and Bell-Holter).

Wolters chucks one up, banks it home and is fouled.

                            He has 14.

                            36-33, ORU leads
