We have some serious young talent to go with some very athletic upperclassmen who are itching to put together a solid season. Everyone seems to want to degrade this win because Iowa is picked last in the Big 10. Well, Kansas was a terrible FB team, as was Minnesota yet there was a lot of excitement after the NDSU and USD wins. Oregon is not a good BB team this year, picked last in the PAC 10 and yet the NDSU following were thrilled to stick with the Ducks earlier this year. It is time for SDSU fans to jump on board. Watching this team is different. They hustle, play hard and they have a confidence we have not seen since the D2 days. Lets enjoy the win over a Big 10 school, get ready for a seven game home stand and enjoy a version of BB we have not seen in a long time at SDSU. December 4 can not come soon enough. I for one plan to be at Frost. That place will and should be rocking.
I cannot agree enough. Unfortunately there seems to be a faction of Jacks fans, some of my friends included, that just cannot give the Men's team credit for wins. That is too bad, because I firmly believe that they will be having a very hard time short-selling this team this year.

Its a huge win for a number of reasons. The biggest reason? It isn't a loss in a game we could win. Over the last several years there have been MANY games SDSU should have or could have won that for a variety of reasons we didn't. This team appears to have what it takes to finish games. It's a little early to know for sure but I see nothing but positive signs for us.

Keep in mind, Iowa was without one of their best players, so they might not be as horrible as some suggest, or they might. Regardless, 2 wins on the road to start the season is huge for our program. Perhaps the FB team will take a cue.

Now, a 7 game home stand and a chance to really bolster confidence and find a rhythm for this team as we head into the opening weekend of Summit league play against NDSU. I'm pumped and looking forward to it!!

            Agree wholeheartedly.

However, Jacks fans should temper their enthusiasm with some reality also.

The home stretch, while nice, is by no means easy. I could easily see SDSU dropping 2 to 4 of those home games, but that wouldn't mean we aren't moving in the right direction. Maybe this year is the first of 2 steps forward 1 step back.

The biggest games of the home stretch, IMO, are SWMSU, Idaho St, and EIU. We need to win those games for sure (Mayville goes without saying). EIU will be tougher the second time around.

Going up against Nevada at 5-0 would be a HUGE confidence boost, and the coaching staff will have the guys ready for that game. It would be nice to have about 4500 people there to greet Nevada when they enter Frost.

Nevada, NDSU, and UW-Milwaukee are all games that are winnable, but not given. We need to play at a high level to win those games, and we are still a very, very young team.

With everything that has happened since the move up I can understand the reason for caution. However, this is not the same team that we put on the floor the last few years. I watched the Iowa game and the attitude is different. Someone posted a group of photos from the IA game and the last picture shows Wolters walking off the court after the game. His face shows it all, this is a confident young man who is not going to be intimidated by anyone. I do believe this program has turned a corner.

We will have our moments. This is still a very young team. But I firmly believe our rival to the North are in for a shock as the true BB school (SDSU) returns to form. Plus, if what I saw yesterday holds, the Nagy detractors will not return this year.

I also watched the game and was very impressed with the moxie of this team. They never were rattled and played with great energy the whole game. The Big 10 announcer said SDSU would wear down, but we went 10 or 11 deep on the bench and we did not wear down at all.

I am also trying to temper my enthusiasm, but I don't think Iowa will be as bad as everyone thinks. Once they get their big scorer back and the learn their system, they could get a few quality wins. I hope they do, that will increase our RPI. They showed the Iowa coaching record as 251 - 77. That is an amazing record for a mid major coach.

Also I noticed there was another player sitting next to Pederson that did not play. I kept rewinding the DVR when they zoomed into the bench. I think I counted 13 players on the team and GoJacks only lists 12 players. Does anyone know who that 13th player is?

Exactly. Anybody who watched that game had to come away impressed with the toughness and resilience the team showed. They're playing with confidence. This year's team appears to have depth, talent, and confidence. That's a good recipe for potential success.

From Sargent and Moss to Wolters and Dykstra, these guys are battlers. This could be a lot of fun.

                        Re: Iowa game...

Teams from the last few years had a lot of quit im um. This year they have a lot of fight, but smart and effective and effeicent. Everyone looked like they knew what they were doing. No mental lapses like we had years ago. No one said it yet but Grif is a battler for sure. He shot well, but also went after the ball.

The team played smart, and hard. Things we can not say it has done before. I want to get excited, but we beat IA St, and Wy, the last few years but still disapointing seasons over all, its a long season that can get longer if a few tough losses start to show up. Great start but lets keep it going.

That pass from Wolters at about the 1:30 mark is some sick, sick stuff.
