    Re: Best Case/Worst Case Scenarios

Do I win a prize for reading every word of the last 5 pages of this thread? I feel like this puts me in a unique group, as most people aren't masochistic enough to do so.

SDSU basketball rumor (I will cite my source if needed ): Wolters improved IMMENSELY over the summer and people will be amazed at how good he is next year.

"Wolters is very good and would be a good player in the Summit League. Different strengths than Felt. Wolters an ideal big strong PG with good athleticism and Felt can flat out stroke it but can't create his own at the DI level yet. Either one of these two would be a very good get for the Jacks. Don't think either player could be considered a "fall-back" guy."

"It really doesn't make much difference who is recruiting him. If the SDSU staff thinks he can help them win games, then hopefully they get him. It is this "who else is recruiting him?" mentality that has hurt the Jacks in their recruiting over the past few years.

This part of the country is the least saturated DI area outside of the desert SW so the fact that there will be less DI recruiting attention on many kids in this area is something the Jacks need to take advantage of. If the Wolters kid played on the East Coast, he would be inundated with Mid Major offers.

The bottom line is that there is less competition for the legit DI kids in this part of the country, so rather than going out and finding kids to recruit based solely on who else is recruiting them, find DI kids who can help you win games from this area and recruit them. Doesn't mean they don't recruit nationally, it means don't forget about your back yard.

Serious question, could an All-Star team from many DII leagues compete for a Summit League championship? In my humble opinion, yes, without question. SDSU is doing the right thing by recruiting Wolters and hopefully they get him."

Very happy to hear Wolters is progressing. I Think Nagy DID A GREAT JOB when he signed this kid. He's good enough to be the PG for a Summit League championship caliber team. In my opinion anyway.

I apologize to all who are pained by having to read my previous posts.

I've been hearing the same things...improved outside shot, but more along the lines of his ability to finish at and even above the rim.

HAPPY HOBO DAYS EVERYBODY!!! 10 days to the first game and then we can let some real results dictate the chatter around here.

I'd say this thread is appropriately named because it has brought the best and worst case scenarios out of many of our posters. BTW-somebody owes me 5 minutes of life for the time I just wasted on this thing.

The deterioration of this thread can be directly attributed to those individuals replying to rabbit_boy. I have seen nothing worthy of reply in any of the aforementioned individuals posts and suggest others consider not replying as well. We will all be better off if this advice is taken.

Best case scenario for this year? All of our guys give 100% effort every minute they are on the game or practice court. We don't have any major injuries. Frost arena is near capacity for every game and we compete for one of the top 4 seeds in the conference tourney.

Worse case scenario? Disgruntled or selfish players who aren't willing to be part of a team effort. Injuries to key players. Disinterested, apathetic or ignorant fans that lose focus on the greater purpose and forget to support the deserving players and coaches. A bottom 2 finish in the conference and no tourney appearance.

For those of us that have a home near campus toward the downtown area it seems like Hobo Days.

For those of us that have to be in the downtown area for work and meetings as well as navigate large groups of students walking home at night it is Hobo Daze.

For those of us that love our University and what Saturday means to all alumni it is Hobo Day.

No matter what the name may be to you, it is a great weekend to be a Jackrabbit.

Just wanted to add that the Golden Grizzlies Gameplan (is THAT what this thread was originally about?! )is a really great blog and really well done. I know the dude that writes it has posted on here a couple of times. I have it bookmarked and I can't wait until basketball season as I expect the content to be very informative.

Just thought I'd mention that to everyone else.

Thanks a lot. I hope the content lives up to the expectations! SDSU fans are incredibly supportive of the school and Summit League. I got a ton of traffic from the link provided in this thread, very much appreciated.
