Bonus for the day, the Charlie Weis era will be over in South Bend.

(Sorry for the off topic but mitchell and I are both Irish fans)

Look, I understand your frustration, but that's just not the way we do things at SDSU. I'm sure the AD and Head Coach will talk about what they need to do to upgrade the program. But it doesn't serve the long-term very well if we go off half-cocked and fire people after a bad loss. What does that say to the next assistant coach who comes along?

My sense is that we need a couple more assistant coaches more than anything else. But I'm going to leave that to the experts in the administration and to Coach Stig to figure out.

I'm disappointed, too. But we don't want to be one of those places where a bad game gets people fired. That's sort of the opposite of the philosophy at SDSU that has overall been pretty successful over the years in a lot of different sports.

It is amazing how much perspective a couple beers will give a guy. After cracking open a couple cold ones I can actually sit back and relax. This loss bit the big one, but if you would have told me at the beginning of the year that this team would 1) Go thru the MVFC in only our second year with one loss, 2) Graduate one of the best QBs in history, lose our starting QB, and then go on to the playoffs with a RS, 3) Play the team that is ranked #1 in the playoffs and be able to complain about how we lost the game...I would take that..

This loss hurts alot, but I will not let it dampen what has been a great season and already gets me excited for next year.

              1. We beat the crap out of the number one seed for three quarters. Absolutely dominated.
              2. We blew a big lead when we got into atmosphere no Jacks' team has ever breathed. It's happened before and will happen again. That's why these games are 60 minutes.
              3. Anyone involved with the Jacks can either let this moment define them or let what they do from this moment on define them. My money's on the latter with a Stig-led team.

              Go Jacks.

My buddy told me that I will drink even more after the Irish lose to Stanford. My response was I'm drinking because I'm happy Charlie Weis is gone.

Dewars (extra) and ice (a little). They are still my Jackrabbits, I will buy season tickets, I will write a bigger check, and I will defend them forever.

So, i did not see the game, but from this board this is what I got:

                    prevent defense does not work

best half of football ever by SDSU

worst half of football by SDSU

TOB should never play for SDSU again! He gave them 21 pts?

Stig, goes from getting votes for coach of the year,
                    to FIRE Him.

because we are short coaches is why we lost?

I think we had a great season and played all the tough teams at home and that will reverse next year.

                    Great season Jacks! Goodnight!

Montana better win the NC after this win. Them or SIU. We outplayed them for most of the game, but they outplayed us badly when it counted the most. They did what they had to to win and we didn't. Like what is being said in earlier posts, we need to get all the assistant positions filled. The more eyes on the field the better.

Congrats to Stig and the team for a great year. Let this be one step in getting our program to a dominating team like Montana, UNI, and SIU. Lets learn from this and move on. We now have some playoff experience. Lets use it.

I see exactly what you are saying. I have been on the Scott Nagy bandwagon since...forever. I have been on the anti-Stig bandwagon since...forever.

I would like to think I am not a notorious jack@$$ poster on here in the last couple of years. I've seen a lot of games in FB, WBB and MBB and posted a lot of insightful, truthful posts.

IMHO! Heads in the football program should roll. Today should not happen, ever. I won't even go to the Grizz website because they are laughing their a$$es off. Just like we should be. I don't give a flying eff if this is the first playoff performance in 30 years in a hostile environment. Hell, I picked Montana to win the game. Just like I picked the Gophers to roll over the Jacks. Both games were suck @$$ losses that should not have happened due to coaching. Once again, heads should roll.

They both should have advanced and who knows what happens after that. We will never know because of meltdowns of epic proportion. Today even more than that day in March. And that was a disaster in itself by a guard averaging like 7 ppg. Today...unspeakable. Heads should roll.
Heads should roll? Those "heads" got us in the good position we were in.

No, you're not at all. You're entitled to your opinion, and you've always been a good contributor on this board. Can't blame anybody for being frustrated today.

Thank you JimmyJack. I'm sorry for the stuff I've been blasting here, but it's all the truth in my eyes, emotion or not. I'm going to head for the hills now and cheer for the Salukis. Screw the Grizz and the BSC (bull $h!t conference).

                              Good night and good riddance.

After calming down . . . albeit, slightly, I am hoping that AD Sell is asking: What do I need to do to ensure Coach Stig and this program can succeed on a consistent (both within a game and season-to-season) basis?

Hopefully, he can use this game as an opportunity and go to donors and tell them that the football program needs money to increase and improve the coaching staff so Stig is better suited to prepare players for these type of games and make major adjustments in the middle of a game.

BTW, this was NOT the worst meltdown/best comeback in the history of football. Those belong to:

                                1) 1/3/1993 - Buffalo trailed Houston 35-3 in the first round of the AFC playoffs. Frank Reich, a backup to Jim Kelly, led the Bills to a 41-38 OT victory. The losing QB? Hall of Famer Warren Moon.

                                2) 11/10/1984 - Reich leads Maryland to 42-40 win after facing a 31-0 hole. The victim? The University of Miami, quarterbacked by Bernie Kosar and coached by Jimmy Johnson.

                                3) 10/21/2006 - Michigan State trails Northwestern 38-3 on the road and leaves Evanston with a 41-38 victory.

                                4) 10/28/1989 - Ohio State rallied from a 31-0 deficit and beats Minnesota 41-37 at the Metrodome.
