    It's us against the world!

Oops...another problem, at least for me. Deleting the cookies no longer works for a revote...and I see we're down more than 900 votes. The only way we will be able to stay in this thing is if we get 3-4,000 students to vote every day. They could do it easily, but I doubt there is anyway that will happen. In this format, being on top is bad news...note the four top winners so far are trailing in their races.

I would like to think the students are voting but the numbers aren't showing. Just make sure to vote against the 2-1 mascots.
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--

I don't think it's 'us against the world'.

I think it's a coordinated effort by WKU and/or Navy fans.

          Why?

If Jack were being targeted because he was the sole undefeated mascot, there wouldn't be a similarly huge spread anywhere else, but there is.

Bucky, Boomer, Butch and Sebastian also have similarly commanding leads over their opponents; Mike, Superfrog, Bearcat & Testudo.

There's no gigantic lead in the Bill/Big Red contest.... Seems something odd is afoot.

I am having success now using Firefox browser and using the Clear Private Data function including Delete Cookies in between votes. I just voted several times and will pick it up again over my lunch. Lets see if we can cut this thing down to manageable number.

No, I think it is our problem Zoo. Last week, there were several undefeated mascots...this week only one and I believe that puts a BIG target on our backs in competition with the 11th ranked team, who obviously hasn't had much success before this.

The top 4: Jack, Bearcat (2), Bill (3) and Mike (4) are all behind. Mike is only 700 behind Big Red, but Big Red is 5th in the standings, so you have a 4 vs. 5 going on. Consider that the other three you named as leading are ranked 8th (Boomer), 9th (Butch), 10th (Bucky...leading by 4200 votes), and 12th (Sebastian...leading by 2300 votes).

As for suggestions we vote against all the 2-1 candidates, I am voting for several of them, when they are trailing significantly, because I don't see a lot of sense in adding to the "total votes received" for those mascots we may end up in a tie with. Anyway, it doesn't matter "why", but it means trailing by 1700 is a "big" problem for us.

IMO, that shows that SDSU doesn't have a target on its back. After all, if 'everyone' wanted Jack to lose, he'd be in a hole he couldn't see out of, if Bucky Badger's lead is any indicator.

Top 8 teams in playoffs....does that mean evryone in the playoffs start even again ? If so,& it's one vs one after playoffs begin, that's when everyone should give a major effort.I assume the playoffs are 8,4 ,2,champ format.I'm not saying we don't have to give an effort to win in "the reg season", but all we really have to do for "the reg season" is make the cut for the "playoffs".

I can't explain the anomaly of that matchup, and it hasn't happened before (that big a spread)...note other matchups are 11 v 11, 12 v 10 thousand events. And it's not a target on just #1, but at the top teams basically. I guess there must be a lot of anti-LSU voters out there???

And I believe JackDaniel is correct in that we are just trying to get into the playoffs and need to have one of the top 8 records or more total votes if there is a tie and we are near the bottom. We need to get as many votes as we can, since we trail a number of teams in total votes so far.

I think that's a little too much of a conspiracy theory. I think it's as simple as we're the only 3-0...everybody can see that...everybody (else) is sticking it to us. In past weeks, there have been a host of 1-0 or 2-0 teams. This week...just us. If we were 2-1 and Bearcat was 3-0...we'd all vote against him every time...and make a point of doing so. That's what's happening...and how...with every other school helping out.

Just as a follow-up, as Jack trails Hairy Dawg by 4265 as I post this: As I said in another post, it is not Jack vs the world, it is the top teams vs the lower teams. We were lucky last week, by 7 votes, to go to #1. Right now, the five biggest vote getters are #8 Boomer, #9 Butch, #10 Bucky, #11 Hairy Dawg, and #12 Sebastian. Conversely, all of the 2-1 or better mascots (Jack is 3-0) are trailing, except for Big Red, and that is partially because he is against Bill, who is #3, and that race is close. You can bet that almost everybody, after voting for their own mascot, is voting against the top mascots, and thus, our problem is the same as the other leaders.

Bottom line: we need to keep voting to keep our total vote count up, and we have to look towards being in the top 8 when week 11 is up. Onward and upward.
