I don't believe he has used his redshirt yet, so he has 3 years to play 2.

IN TV's Tuesday Tidbits he stated that Zach Bowers also had offers from East Carolina, Central Arkansas, Pittsburgh State, and Missouri Southern.

TV also stated that Ft Scott was the #2 JUCO in the country and that Bowers led the team in sacks.

I see this addition similar to when the Jacks added Jason Bonwell a couple years ago. This puts our DE rotation at Steffen, Thompson, & Bowers.
I wonder if there is any interest in moving Thompson inside to DT since he is up around 270.
You can than have a 3 man rotation of JR Steffen, JR Bowers, & JR Wood at DE and SR Thompson, SR Basham, & SR Fischer at DT. That would be a pretty solid D-Line.

Quote from Christian Dudzik on his reason to go with NDSU rathher then the Jacks. I have faith in the coaches but we need some more commits here in the near future.

"Coach Cooper told me that NDSU already had 18 commitments for next year and that they were really excited about last year's recruiting class, too. They've had a couple down years but it looks like they're going to get back to where they were. I saw that South Dakota State only had one or two guys committed, so it just seemed that NDSU had something good going on."

It is kinda the extreme of both sides between SDSU and NDSU.... 18 commitments before the 1st of the year is quite a few while 2 is very small....

Have no clue who's committed to NDSU...but in some cases isn't the quality of the commits more important than the number of commits. Pure hypothetical statement, but couldn't NDSU have commits from 18 guys, 14 of which are total white rocks.

I have a hard time believing with the coaching turnover they've had the past couple of years that they are getting the guys in that one would normally expect of NDSU. How many of those 18 did SDSU legitimately have their sites on? Or any other MVC school for that matter? If NDSU is getting players over the likes of UND, USD, or NSIC schools, then I would say let them have 'em.

The real tell comes in February when all of the papers are signed. If we're questioning SDSU's recruiting class at that point over NDSU's then the discussions can begin.

Just one little quivel here, and that is the "real tell" in my mind extends beyone February. These kids still have to show up and how they adapt to classroom and field of play are two big challenges except for the real exceptional. Enter a name of a SDSU legend here.

I think the fact that SDSU had as many as 18 seniors this year tells a great deal about who are recruits really were four years ago. I suspect NDSU has had it's share of departures long before graduation, and the coaching changes could affect things.

Dudzik choose NDSU because he is a 5'11" QB and NDSU needs a QB, and it looks like SDSU is set a QB for years to come. He can say it is because NDSU has 18 commits, but come on.

ESPN thinks he is a little short but a good runner and could fit an option or spread offense, we are not an option or spread team. I wonder how much interest we really had, he might have made a good lb. Best of luck to him. Anyone heard any news about SDSU recruits?

He will be a defensive back, and he knows that because the coaches have told him. We have four QBs, we are set for now.

As for this class, who knows until they step on the field.

True. So true. Plenty of "Paper All-Americans" and "Weekday All-Americans" will be signed by many schools.

All I know is there are a lot of good football players in High School and Junior Colleges that are just beginning to realize their dream of earning a scholarship and playing for their favorite FBS team is not going to happen. SDSU is in a much better position than our friends up north to help those young men find a home. I'm sure there are a few of those players who have verbally committed to NDSU that our coaching staff would like to have had, but I think our patience will be rewarded in February.

I'm pretty sure he was offered a scholarship. How much of one is hard to say. But I would guess that if Stig offered him they were interested.

He made a decision that he thought was best for him. NDSU was able to give him what SDSU couldn't. Best of luck to him. I hope he loses 4 games his entire career.

What in particular puzzles me about NDSU is that they found one good Steve Walker who was a very good QB. Why have they not been able to find more QB's like him? Is Bohl a little uncertain about his offensive, which seems to be very close to what SDSU runs? In other words would he want to shift to something else? It makes me wonder and the back up to Mertens seemed to struggle at times in the last few games.

                                IIRC, Babich recruited Walker.

Regarding Dudzik, per the Bison media blog the Jacks had offered him a full ride.

But in the end, I don't know that Bohl's demonstrated any real recruiting ability; and if NDSU landed a star in Dudzik at the expense of a dozen flameouts in their 18 early commits, well, that's just more of the same.

There are some Bison fans that are celebrating a victory over SDSU in this recruiting battle. Perhaps we can mock up a play-doh or papier mache marker trophy and send it to them.
