I am giving YSU a 51% chance of winning lol. That is how confident I am after our performance last week. I am expecting the worst, hoping for the best!

I just took a look at a different site than betus and they had the same thing - penguins favored by 15.5... I will be putting a couple hundo on the Rabbits this weekend!

All American defensive tackle Mychal Savage isn't listed on the YSU depth chart as of Sept. 2. That would be a huge loss for them.

        Their game notes here:

I caught the last quarter of the YSU v. OSU game on the Big Ten network the other night as they were replaying the game. They were running all of their offense out of a shotgun formation - similar to one employed by SDSU at many points of the game. I've read the occasional thread stating they have changed their offensive strategy this season. Is the shotgun the main offensive formation employed this year? Maybe one of the YSU fans could enlighten me.

That's what Stig said. They've gone away from the QB as tailback running scheme they had and implemented a spread offense. It wasn't pretty against OSU, but it's pretty hard to judge in that context.

              Re: Youngstown State

I'm just so darned excited about the game tomorrow I can hardly think about anything else. Is there a buzz around Brookings?

I wish I could be up there tonight but I've got to make rounds in the morning and then we are headed north. I'll pack the truck tonight and prep the family for a fast and efficient get away. Need to stop at the bookstore and purchase more Jackrabbit gear and then head for the tailgate area. We have 4 season tickets but I don't think I can sit down, I'm to use to roaming the east sideline.

Who is going to be there? I can't wait to see the team pour out onto the field in front of what better be a frenzied student section and full grandstand.

                We run the SPREAD Offense.
So far, it looks dismal. But then again we were playing the best defense in America.

I'm praying we play like the Betters are predicting us to win by, but I don't buy it... This will come down to a FG.

Hey guinzone, whats the skinny on Savage? He's not on the two-deep, but I read somewhere he still might play. What are you hearing?

In your eyes could the TE ever be over utilized???? I think we could ask for some clarification but it might turn into a discussion similar to that sellout discussion ealier in this thread.

I was thinking 23 - 20 earlier when I posted my picks but I am getting to the point where I think it could be 10-7 or it could be 45-17 as Catch em predicted. I just can't wait for kickoff. Rain or Shine.

What the heck. I'll make a prediction:

                          Youngstown State: 19
                          South Dakota State: 23

Mychal Savage will not play probably, got injured a bit in the last game at OSU. He may be available to be used, but I think it's more of a precautionary move to keep him healthy for an additional week or two.

Sorry to hear he's hurt. He's a great player and hopefully he'll be back next week or the week after. That does make it a little easier for us to run the ball tonight, which wasn't very easy last year. Still, YSU has a great front 7 on defense. We did manage a good running game against ISU, so I'm hopeful that we can get Minett going.

Count me in with Catch 'em and eq guy-- USE THE TE, PLEASE!!! Running is not Berry's strong point, but there are times I don't think our opponents ever think he will run it on some of the read option plays in the spread. That is why they lined up Koenig at QB a few times last year and would be nice if we had a someone who could do a similar thing this year. (Jeske??)
