    Re: Youngstown State

Jacks fans: Is the game going to be a sell-out??

I'm sure YSU will be ready to play....but from the AGS board...some said YSU gave up in their game against OSU. 40 something to 0 might do that.

If Jacks get out front early and the crowd gets into it....Jacks should win.

    Kick some ass!!

No, It will not be a sell out. I think it is almost impossible to sell a game out considering the Bison game last year wasn't even a sell out. I'm sure they are willing to let anyone in who wants to attend. I think it should be somewhere around 12500-14000 though.

Csn has picked the Penguins by 13.

        link

#21 South Dakota State at #14 Youngstown State. On the surface, this looks like two very good FCS teams that lost to FBS opponents last week. But I like Jackrabbit quarterback Ryan Berry’s five interception meltdown against awful FBS member Iowa State a lot less than I do Penguin quarterback Todd Rowan’s subpar performance against a BCS title contender. Look for Youngstown State to rebound better than South Dakota State, who are notorious for their slow starts. The Penguins prevail.
        Persnickety Penguins 30, Jackrabbit-kebobs 17.

For what its worth CSN also selected USD to beat UNI 35-27 based on their performances agains St Ambrose and BYU respectively.

The Bison game last year wasn't a sellout? What game were you at? SDSU set an attendance record at that game and it was standing room only. If that isn't a sellout, I want to be there when we do sellout CAS.

That was the point... 1,000 more tickets could have been sold to that game if need be. Thus, not a sell out.

I was there in person...there was no chance 1000 more people were fitting into that place. I could be wrong but I'm guessing a lot of others on this board will agree with me.

I don't think its an important argument whether more could have been there or not. I'd like to to see 12,000 plus at CAS this Saturday. If you are a football fan in the state of South Dakota you need to be in Brookings Saturday. I would venture to say that there have not been 2 football teams with as much talent as these 2 teams since in Brookings since the NDSU game last year and if you go back before that its been a long.......time. In other words, if you are a fan of college football you need to be in Brookings this weekend. No excuses.

BTOWN I get it I was there, huge crowd. My point was just that we do not know what a sell out is because there is no definite capacity as in the Fargo Dome. Sorry for the confusion.

I am lost. How about this question: How many angels can u put on a head of a needle? IMO, we probably dont have a precise number for a sell out. No doubt there is a permanent seating count, but the standing room only is very vague. The turnstiles tell us how many paid, but the fire marshall can dictate how many people can come in and occupy the standing room only. I have no idea how they make a judgement, but they often do. Nebraska as been bragging about sellouts since the last time they played the Jacks in 1963, but people would have come anyway even if a sellout had never been mentioned.

If our team is successful, they will come.

                          Re: Youngstown State

Back on topic. I don't think that 30-17 is realistic. The more I think about this game this week I am more inclined to think we will see more of a 17-13 type game. We know both teams can play defense and we know SDSU's QB threw 5 picks last week, while they have switched their offense and by all accounts have struggled with that transition.
SDSU has traditionally drawn well for the first game (with the Beef Bowl and Hobo Day being the big draws) so I would expect no less than 12K there.

www.betus.com has us as 15 1/2 point underdogs. If I was a betting man (other that sodas and lunches) I'd take that bet in an instant. They had us as 12 1/2 last week against ISU.

We also scored 17 points last week against a Big XII school despite having 6 turnovers. I don't think this will be high scoring, but I'm thinking something in the 27-21 range in the Jacks favor.

                                45-17 could go either way
                                No Sell Out - guessing 12,000 +/- 750
