Now, this is a hilarious Twitter observation by Zach Borg, sports guy with DakotaNewsNow. Video from Jack Lido.

LMAO @ wee little panther men
No worries. My post likely would've contributed to a detraction in forum decorum. Still, I'll say that I'll be fine if a couple posters remain either north of section 121 or south of section 119 into perpetuity

I won't be sad to see Sapp III graduate. I thought he might've facemasked Kraft on that takedown at the end in real time, and Borg's angle didn't disprove that take, although maybe the ref figured Kraft's stiff arm to facemask preceding the tackle negated any retaliatory action by BS3

So a poster can write some terrible stuff about an athlete and people can disagree with the post but we should not add the final “and you’re an idiot for thinking that way” or words having a similar intent.

i know- the athletes are D1 athletes with most having significant financial assistance because they play a sport and therefore they can take some criticism. Yada yada yada.

But when I read a couple of posters’ thoughts on a tremendous athlete and, by all accounts, a good teammate and leader, and I disagree with the post, guess what I’m thinking about the poster but not writing.

(And now I’m wondering how many — not whether —readers of this post just added ‘JackJD is an idiot.’)

Gronowski is da man! And empirical evidence proves it.

A nine-game win streak in the MoValley. It’s another great day to be a Jackrabbit.
Gronowski is a great player for the Jacks but praise and criticism goes both ways especially with the second half went yesterday. "My quarterback" Come on man, none of us play on the team. Calling a spade a spade on football plays has nothing to do with whether they are a great teammate, leader, player, etc. Also, I feel like Gronowski is the type of player that would want to be criticized for his play then have people not criticize him because he's a great leader, person, etc

Sure, but the destructive criticism about a player's level of intelligence went well beyond "football plays," and certain commenters have a propensity to pop in to cite what they see as systemic failures in a couple players or an offensive coordinator who lacks the surname "Eck," yet they're silent when the Jacks are rolling.

              I agree with jakejc795's response.

Witness: seems like you're a little sensitive if other readers on this board disagree with your assessents. No one is stopping you from posting complaints. You can even attempt to use a trite phrase like "calling a spade a spade" as some sort of support for your positiion but fortunately, people reading this message board can read what you write and judge for themselves. Now it seems we're talking about posters and not posts. So this seque (focusing on posters and not posts) from the main discussion should end.

Taking this a step further -- unless I missed something watching live -- coaches might be able to praise Gronowski for not opting to attempt a risky pass on the grounding plays (e.g., forcing it into coverage in the middle) while advising him that he appeared to have ample opportunity to evade the rush and roll left or right to get "outside" the respective tackle and chuck it away, thereby reducing probability of intentional grounding penalty

Very true. I always wondered about what that mentality might feel like. Joyless?

Anyway, I’m still very excited that the road to a December semi-final game in Brookings still exists. Can’t wait to bundle up and be there if it happens!

I'll be cheering myself hoarse for the remainder of the season. Glad fellow fans like you will be in stands too

i am trying to be careful here. i have not been commenting because i do not want to encourage things moving in a negative direction

but it seems to me that your sentiment is correct. some people seem to comment far more often when things do not go well. they point out what they see as poor preparation, poor game plan, or poor execution, but they do not cheer the successes

it really makes a person wonder what is the purpose for even paying attention/ watching sports. dont we watch the jacks because we ENJOY IT? they make us feel good? if all i got from watching the jacks was stuff to be upset / frustrated / mad about, i would have to seriously consider the idea that i might be better off if i found something else to do with my free time

                      FWIW
the jacks have now qualified for the playoffs for the 11th year in a row
they have made the semi finals or finals 4 of the last 5 years
they are currently undefeated in the best conference in fcs football and against fcs competition
their only loss this year was vs a reigning BIG 10 division champ to whom they DID NOT allow a touchdown

POINT BEING i think we have way way WAY more reasons to cheer these players and coaches and this team than we have reasons for being upset

i am NOT trying to tell anyone that they do not have a right to offer criticism. but trying to remind jacks fans that if most of what you do is complain about your team, you MIGHT need to consider your perspective

Excellent post, although I'm still waiting for a modicum of praise for having one of my "prop predictions" pan out.

I've enjoyed Jacks games since the first time I attended State, but it went to another level in '09 after a breakup that left me doubting what I had to offer the Twains, Russells, and Lanes of the world.

Watching Batten, Rogers, Minett, Domino, Parnell, and the boys gave me an enjoyable respite from those self doubts and probably prevented me from constantly gorging myself on SDSU ice cream -- somewhere in there's a country song.

Easy fix: have her steal your pickup or your dog.

Well, I was going to run with "she stole my heart; thought I'd lost track. When that fall came, I really rooted for the Jacks. Unrequited love can throw you for a loop, but in the off-season, there'll be SDSU ice cream scoops"

did you get another one right??

i guess after you got the prediction right last week, i kind of stopped paying attention. i just figured it would be another decade before you got one right again so no need to pay attention.

if you got another one right, FIRST OF ALL very sorry for not giving your just credit!!!

SECOND OF ALL???? should all of us be getting prepared for the world to end?? maybe i dont need to go to work this week?? maybe you should just drive to vegas and see if you can get shania to go to dinner with you. tell her that you are the second coming of Nostradamus (or however they heck you spell that one!!!) maybe she will be impressed

anyway whatever you predicted correctly, WAY TO GO!!! maybe you are finally getting this figured out)))

i think you meant she ran his dog over while she was stealing his pickup))

sorry but now i have to ask, are you all familiar with the song by David Allan Coe, which goes through pretty much this exact conversation? to be clear, i mean the conversation about writing a country song, not about sports fans or prognosticating

in case you are interested, the song is titled, You never even called me by my name. make sure you listen to the last verse
