In the write up - what's the difference between those who have signed and those who have been admitted to SDSU? Are the admittees PWOs?

      • I was wondering the same thing. I figured it was PWOs. My other thought was partials.

Blitz pickup/pass blocking skills pending- running back is a position you'd think could step in right away if needed.

Maybe it's just me, but it's hard to imagine paying three RB's who think they deserve playing time, and keeping all of them happy at the end of the day.

I know I sound like a broken record, but the crazy thing is its not like they have zero returning players.

And why do three backs all looking for carries want to go to a bottom tier FBS program. Answer has to be $$$.

Not saying you’re wrong but if no one was leaving here and Jimmy was still the coach and all 3 were staying here would you be saying they are in a bad situation? All 3 were on our roster looking for carries with more running backs coming in here as well and all we would be talking about is how excited we are with the running backs we have coming back and how we will be loaded at running back.

All that is true, but there is still a chance the coach signs someone that is in front of all of them too! Guys like Woods would have had the chance to show his skills in the MVFC for several years as a featured back. I wish them all good luck.

                      • The frustrating part is the amount of time/money and resources it takes to recruit and develop these players.

In Angel's case I can tell you that his relationship with Coach Rouse (and Coach Freund) is a factor. I don't know how much $ was involved nor is it really any of my business unless he wants to share it with me.
The analogy has been made to getting a job offer of more $- do you take it? Now if you have a new job offer of more $ and your "boss", with whom you have a great relationship, is also moving to the new company- do you take it?
Am I sad that Angel has left, selfishly, yes. Can I say that it was a bad choice on his part, I can't say as I don't have all the information, and I don't think anyone else can say for sure either.

Where's the money coming from? I assume that Wazzu has some NIL. For some reason $3 million sticks out in my mind. But spread over 105 players, that $28,000 per. And if course, NIL isn't spread evenly. I believe I read that Wazzu scraped together an offer north of $1 million for their QB that left in the portal. Maybe $28,000 is better than $0 here. Still, the assumption is that players want to play and as noted here before, assuming Fruend runs a similar run heavy design in Wazzu that Lujan/Olson ran here, there will be a clear RB1, a decent number of carries for RB2 and garbage time carries for RB3. Maybe Fruend runs a more pass happy offense. I don't recall what he was doing up in Grand Forks. In any event, even disregarding the returning Wazzu RBs, somebody is sitting here. I would expect that Vorhees will fare no worse than RB2. The staff seemed enamored with him and he was getting carries even when Angel was healthy. In any event, he's going to be the power back and either Angel or Max will be the shiftier type of back. Somebody isn't going to be happy with their carries.

Great perspective. No, we wouldn't be.

He might but he might not and woods could be the starter for a couple years after being a rotational piece and have a great career with the coach who recruited him and got him to flip from the bison. Most players commit to the coach not school. I don’t like that Roger’s is taking some of our top talent either but he also has to go win games to keep his job and if our players that he recruited/coached/built relationships are better than the ones he is inheriting it’s not a huge surprise they are going.

I looked at their running back room to see how crowded it was. They had 8 rbs on the roster last year. The startet and freshman of the year transferred before their bowl game so that leaves 7.

2 are redshirt juniors. One of those 2 hasn’t played a snap in his 5 years there. The other tore his ACL in October

1 is a redshirt sophomore who played in 11 games this year and had 43 carries 12 games last year with 33 carries

2 redshirt freshman. One hasn’t played in his 2 years and one played in all 13 games but only had 65 carries

                                2 freshman who both redshirted.

                                Angle had 91 carries
                                vorhees had 75
Woods had 29 in his redshirt season

If I’m those 3 there isn’t a RB left on that roster that I think will play in front of me. There isn’t an established one and you already have a leg up because you have been in the offense and around the coaches.
