According to JI, we've made our first portal addition. 6'5, 295 OL John Pica from Dakota Wesleyan and Dell Rapids St. Mary's. 1st team All-GPAC and looks to have 2 years left to play. Would be interesting to know how they found out enough about him to offer this quickly since there wasn't anyone left from the old staff to know about anyone that local. Unless someone on the new staff has local connections.

He's not being followed by Cooper, Jackson, or Eids. I think he just followed Daniel Mojica and he had followed Jackson previously.
edit: I think I buried the lede on Pica. He was following most of the old staff, and there's nothing on his feed as to when he declared he was transferring to SDSU, so it's possible he was an addition from before Jackson got here and just wants to play here.

Dalton Thomas just followed a Vanderbilt portal player that Dan Jackson happens to follow and he's added a follow on the Idaho decommit from salem's post #634

Unless Thomas' recent stuff is coincidence, I think he could be on the safe. He's actively recruiting for someone at least.

Tak hasn't said what he's doing. I think he still shows commitment to SDSU on his Twitter page but he duly noted Jimmy's departure tweet. It was always an interesting pickup. Was the old staff expecting a departure? John Bell will be done after the 25 season. Chase too although I think one of the SDSU media types indicated he could probably get another year due to medical. Are the young guys showing little promise?

Tak confirmed coming. It sounded like people here approved of having another experienced QB on the roster when his initial announcement was made

Tak Tateoka (transfer QB from StT, 2 years remaining) has recommitted. That's going to be a crowded QB room. This one was always curious, even before James & co bolted. I think it's safe to say the Mason is QB1 and its hard to imagine Bell not being QB2. Both are on their last year of eligibility (although its been said that Mason could petition for, and likely receive, another year due to injuries). Maybe the offense is tooling up to be QB run heavy and with Mason's injury history, Tak figures he can jump Bell (is Bell mobile? I have no idea) and figures to see a lot of playing time.

What's that say about the rest of the QB room? Thue? Henry? Amar? 25 commit Eshelman hasn't been heard from.

Presumably Jackson will bring in a number of portal players. As of right now, though, the 25 Jacks will be a young team. Very few seniors. There will be opportunity for a lot of players to rise to the top and see playing time. Its not always an allure for top players, but I would hope that we could keep the top talent in our recruiting class if for nothing else, a genuine opportunity to play, and play a lot, right away. I'm particularly looking at the defensive backfield where we're really thin at CB and S.

Recent article on Coug 247 site includes Large among 10 "known" Jacks transferring to WSU while allowing wiggle room saying SD media have indicated it is not a done deal. The other nine mentioned are:

They indicate sources tell them the number of Jacks transfers could be 14, so they delve in JI's list and tweets from McFeely and Elsen (they don't link to the tweets) with the latter indicating Woods, Palano, Humphrey, and Ridley were listed as "signed" in the portal, but Woods has apparently indicated to the CougFan.com crew that he hasn't signed yet.

It's apparent from the public announcements by the players transferring to Pullman that Roger has them absolutely spellbound. I sure hope he gives them tons of playing time and they don't get f***ed over by him the way he's motherf***ing SDSU right now.

Jackson Powers 3 years eligibility looks like he had offers from Butler, Uconn, Elon, Morgan State, and St. Thomas. Eids has an older follow on this guy
