Offer on Powers. this list was from a day or two ago no new schools since then. I like our chances against them

Dan Jackson exchanged follows with a Minnesota transfer DB from Maple Grove, MN (sound familiar?)
Jackson Powers 3 years eligibility looks like he had offers from Butler, Uconn, Elon, Morgan State, and St. Thomas. Eids has an older follow on this guy

I know some of my posts sound like I am saying Jimmy is a bad guy. I dont mean that. i have ALWAYS been a huge Jimmy fan. just hard to understand the reversals in words and actions. if he thinks there is an opportunity that he needs to pursue for the good of his family. that is his choice to make and i can understand it even if i HATE it

but it has always been clear that he was a TRUE believer in SDSU and believed it to be a special place
always seem clear that Stig is very special to him
and he clearly has talked in the past about- it is NOT all about the money

if he chooses to go. that is his choice. but i dont understand if it is all about the money. i dont understand that he KNOWS he is doing a lot of harm to the program that Stig built and he helped a lot in doing that. i dont understand that he indicated that there would be much more than ONE championship and i dont understand what seems to be saying one thing and now doing something totally opposed to that

but as far as his scowl or clear desire to keep game day interviews SHORT- those fit perfectly with his intensity. i think his intensity has always been one of the things that we loved about him from his playing days and the way he carried it over into coaching. so I am not going to act now like that is a bad quality. I hate that we are losing all these players and I feel like he should have tried to tell more of them to stay at the special place he recruited them to. some will say that is crazy but I have always believed Jimmy is the kind of person who would do that. that would be in character with what we have always seen from him

but all these players going is a VERY clear example of the fact there is much more to Jimmy than a scowl and his intensity. we have seen glimpses of the fact that he has plenty of emotions. he has trouble holding back tears in his radio show. he definitely has a lot of charisma and great ability to build a connection.

i am very frustrated and more confused with some of his current actions, but I still think the negative crap will pass and it is very easy to see why players love him and want to play for him

I know a lot of people laughed about Jimmy's gruff attitude. I watched the coaches weekly interview before the semifinal game with NDSU. They cycle through the media members one by one. When it was Zach Borg's turn he said, "Hey Jimmy, how you doing?" and paused to allow Jimmy to respond. A normal human would say good Zach or something like that. Jimmy sat there silently with a scowl on his face. He did the same thing to Jay Elsen. He sure came off as an asshole.

I can understand the recruits going with the former coaching staff more than I can the players who have spent time at SDSU. As Chase said in the article, he was calling recruits that he had never met in person and trying to persuade them to come to a place that they have only visited for a day or two. 98 % of their connection to the program was the coaches. The current players on the other hand.....

I just dont think it is something that looks good. everyone knows his story and how long he has been with Stig. Stig is VERY respected in the coaching world and i think maybe doing this to Stigs program on the way out could have people outside of pullman thinking twice about Jimmy and maybe his staff too
Rodgers promised the fans a dynasty! He is doing all he can to ensure it doesn’t happen. Why would recruits believe him now either?

I am glad Rodgers loves SDSU so much because I would hate to see him mad at us!

Isnt there a few other FCS programs he could raid if he wants a team of FCS recruits to coach? Doesn’t he need a good WR?

i very much want to get past this. stop looking back and focus on the people who want to be Jackrabbits and cheer for them, but this is so strange

as Quinten pointed out the program came from the trailers, and Jimmy WAS ONE OF THOSE GUYS. he was here when we had the trailers. he knows everything Stig went through to leave this program in so much better condition than he received it

and now it sure seems like he does not care what he does to that legacy. i mean seriously did he really need to take 4 running backs and the majority of the incoming class

and the other HUGE deal that makes zero sense to me, WHY are none of those 20+ players going to wsu asking the same question Quinten asked and that Kraft pointed out? Jimmy is the same coach who told a lot of other players it is NOT about the money. then he leaves for the money AND wants them to come with him. i am sorry but as a player, I would have trusted his character and integrity but now I see he talks out of both sides of his mouth

that would make me feel like hmmm maybe this aint the guy I thought it was

but the thing I HOPE will be remembered most about this and i believe it will be soon will be the people who stayed and the former players and how they fought for this program. i dont know how they will ever get it but they deserve special remembrance. Chase Mason has never started one game here but he refused to turn his back on what has been created here and Quinten is doing all this while planning for or recovering from surgery for multiple injuries. THANK YOU both!!

I know we are not the ones who are leaving, but it is time to shake the dust off our feet and put the past in the past. we will move forward with the people who want to be part of us

At first, this whole thing felt like just another day in the life of college football in the transfer portal era. But after reading this I feel a bit angry at the previous staff, Jimmy in particular.
It really sounds like he was trying to get every last player to enter and go to Wazzu. Does he not know about the roster limit??? WTF
Others have mentioned it but it seems like there is something else going on besides taking a job for better pay...

It was awesome seeing that some SDSU legends like McCormick and Freeman were taking time trying to keep the program together. Legends that continue to etch their place in Brookings even after their career.
