      This makes it official although no mention of Holt. It isn't required that they sign today as they officially have weeks to actually sign. From the SID office:

      Jackrabbits add 19 for football

      South Dakota State University football coach John Stiegelmeier announced Wednesday that 19 high school standouts have signed a National Letter of Intent or been accepted for admission, indicating they will enroll at SDSU in the fall and compete for the Jackrabbit football program.

      “We are excited for two reasons,” Stiegelmeier said. “First of all, recruiting is intense for both the student-athletes and our staff, so the end is welcome. Secondly, the end is very special when we are able to welcome into our program a class of student-athletes like this. In this signing class, we have added all the ingredients we had hoped for our program. They will be an important factor in South Dakota State University football’s pursuit of excellence.”

      The 2008 recruiting class includes:

      • Will Castle, 6-3, 275, offensive line, Brandon, S.D.;
      • Seth Daughters, 6-6, 220, tight end, Hamill, S.D.;

      • Bo Helm, 6-0, 180, defensive back, Childress, Texas;
      • Joe Kennedy, 6-4, 225, defensive line, Wall, S.D.;
      • Tyrel Kool, 5-10, 180, running back, Yankton, S.D.;

      • Andy Mink, 6-3, 220, defensive line, Greenwood, Neb.

        Just got back to the office and reviewed TV's blog and the forum. Looks like a real good class of athletes. Hope the Holt kid comes along. Nice to see a walk-on program getting some quality athletes also. Best of luck to all the signees and welcome to the Jacks.

          Anyone know where I could find UNI's football signees? I just want to compare a little to SDSU's and see who they got.

                    Granted, I'm not around the program and don't know the in's and out's of what is going on but Sheehan was a 3 star recruit on the d-line! Even though we're deep, shouldn't he stay there? I was under the impression he was/is a big time stud as a DE or DT. Maybe someone else can provide some more insight to this...

                      Maybe that just goes to show how deep we really are there. I'm not going to question the coaches if they think he is more valuable to the team as a TE. Will be an interesting development to watch this spring for sure.

                        Don't get me wrong, it's not my intent to question the coaches (I learned my lesson after our 0-3 start two years ago)....just thinking out loud I guess.

                            Kyle may be a better TE. He is/was having a hard time buying into Coach Sarvis scheme. That is not a slam at all...just that he is/was having a hard time grasping that position. Had not heard about a move to TE, but I sure can say it sounds very good...he is a very good athlete.

                              Purdue was going to switch him to O-line so I'm guessing he has the ability to turn into a devastating blocker as a TE.
