Re: 9/5/15 vs. Kansas Jayhawks
Awesome win because of the confrence they play in. But in all honesty they are probably 3 or 4 best team we play this year. I heard the end on the radio. Liked hearing we went for it. Think it was forth down. Big play and score late helped seal it. Any word why mengerilli didn't get many carries? Figured both would get a bunch. Did he struggle or get nicked up? Great job D to make the plays when they needed."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer

Here's the game story on GoJacks.com: http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=15000&ATCLID=210320507
Game story on the Kansas site: http://www.kuathletics.com/news/2015...905152143.aspx with links to interviews, photos etc. Keep scrolling down for the Q&A with Coach Beatty. Here are Coach Beatty's comments on Jake Weineke:
Q. What exactly did you see from Jake Wieneke?
DAVID BEATY: He's actually a lot faster than you think he is. I'm not saying that he's maybe the biggest breakaway speed guy, but man he's a crafty receiver. It's hard to get your hands on him at the line of scrimmage. He does a great job catching the ball away from his body. He's a big man who does a great job receiving the ball away from his body. That touchdown catch in the corner down there was phenomenal.
I mean, to get his feet down, I mean, Brandon Stewart was right underneath him, and Brandon had a battle on his hands all day. That kid's a really good player. I was telling Coach before the game, I said, man, that dude, he can play just about anywhere. He's a really talented kid, really talented kid.Last edited by JackJD; 09-05-2015, 09:52 PM.

I am seven time zones from Brookings. So I did not make it to Lawence, but would have loved to been their. With my iPhone I followed here on the message board and the stat board on GoJacks. A very important win for the Jacks an a good start for the season. Let's keep it going next Saturday. We have had some big holes to fill and several stepped up which is good.

"...Saturday's loss undoubtedly always will always be remembered for the wild ending and "hard to swallow" loss from yet another FCS school from the Dakotas." [Reference is to NDSU's 6-3 win at Kansas in 2010.]

Re: 9/5/15 vs. Kansas Jayhawks
A great win for the Jacks.
The team played well and battled the heat all day. It looks like the third receiver spot is still "iffy" as I watched. The overthrow of a TD looked like the receiver stopped his route thus the over thrown ball. The Freshmen played good and is encouraging. The D ends had a tough game in my eyes and made few plays which was a concern coming into the season. The running QB will happen a few more times this season. I wondered why we couldn't play a three man front and bring another linebacker in to spy the Qb. The fastest linebacker, 51, spent most of the game on the sideline. Get healthy and get better for game two. Great job Jacks.

Re: 9/5/15 vs. Kansas Jayhawks
Great win! It looked and sounded on TV like the O-line really stepped up, which erased one of the few concerns I had about this team. RBs Wallace and Mengarelli looked really good. My biggest lingering concerns are the Jacks' defense against short passes, and the passes (some off target) that were dropped by receivers not named Wieneke. If the Jacks can shore up those flaws, this could be a great season. It's certainly off to a good start. Well done, overall, Jacks. Well done.Last edited by Jacked_Up; 09-06-2015, 04:36 PM.This space for lease.
