Weineke's TD reception in the corner should be considered for ESPN top 10 plays of the day..

That was an amazing catch. The play that won the game, though was Goedert's catch on fourth down. That one is my play of the day. It was a great pass by Lujan, but the big guy really went up and got it. That whole drive was gut-check time and the Jacks rose to the occasion.
          Holy nutmeg!

One more thing: The KU coaches need to stop the ridiculous dancing during kickoffs. So dumb.

I feel like this win was more of how bad Kansas is instead of how good State is. Definitely on par with Minnesota a few years back. Maybe worse. Still proud and it's about damn time State got an FBS win! Go Jacks!

Also this is HUGE for State's playoff chances. Big win in that regard!

                  Nice.
Yessir! What you said. Thought the D would be good to go, but was glad to see we could put up some points. Have a hunch Kansas might be headed for a winless season, but this still a big win. I didn't get to watch tons in the second and third quarters. Had that dreadful Montana feeling for a bit there, but that last drive with the touchdown was calm and cool, a true crunch time game-winner. Happy day.
Grumbling along and embracing my role. If I didn't care, I wouldn't care. Go Jacks!

                    Post-game story on KUSports.com:
The first game of the David Beaty era got off to a slow start Saturday at Memorial Stadium, and despite the Kansas football team’s second-half showing giving the Jayhawks some hope, South Dakota State marred the first-year coach’s debut with a 41-38 road win.

Embedded in the story is a video of QB Cozart talking about the last play.

Scroll down after reading the story to find a link about gameday breakdowns (keys to the game) -- this is a pre-game story so interesting to read, knowing how the game turned out.

I was there. KU has some great athletes. SDSU really came to play. I was impressed with the offense, particularly the offensive line. KU is not good for an FBS team. But SDSU is solid. That drive for the last TD that that included the fourth down pass to Goedert was gutty. Great sign of team toughness that bodes well for a good season.

Agree with JimmyJack's post above. After getting up 31-7, the Jacks slumped for some reason but we hung in there while KU threw everything it had at us. Good first game: left room for improvement but what the heck, that's why we have more games. Looking forward to seeing this team in person next week.

I was impressed with the play of our freshman cb Shakial Taylor. I don't remember hearing much about him, but he was our late signee from Arizona who has family with the Cleveland Browns.

Tyler mentioned on the post-game show that an FBS win is huge if you are on the bubble to make the playoffs. Said ISU Blue got in last year at 7-5 because they had the FBS win.

So glad we were able to hang on. I honestly thought we were toast when they scored to make it 31-28.

It was easy to have that "here we go again" mentality as a fan.

                              Congrats Jackrabbits for hangin' tough!

I think our depth was why they were able to get back in the game. Playing in Kansas heat and humidity is hard to prepare fore when they have more scholarship players to rotate in. Glad we could hang in there. Wish we would have ran the ball more in the third quarter and the last drive. Really good to see us put up 41 points when I thought we would need to keep it a low scoring game coming into it. Impressed by our blocking up front hope our line can stay healthy all year and they keep it up.
