Re: Kansas in 2012
The article seems to dwell on the 1947 game where we lost 86-6. No doubt Thurlo McCardy lined that game up just before he became the AD at Kansas State. If you can get your hands on Warren Williamson book, he talks a a great deal about Thurlo as he came to Brookings one Saturday evening, a senior in high school, and before the evening was over Thurlo had him following him to Kansas State as he had just gotten the job in Manhattan. Thurlo apparently look out for Thurlo and was both AD and football coach at the same time at SDSU. Warren btw found out K-state was not for him and tranferred to SDSU and the rest is history.
It would be interesting to find write ups on that 1947 game as the JayHawks showed no mercy in that game. Hopefully this time around it will be a better pay day and a more reasonable score, perhaps even a Jack victory.

Re: Kansas in 2012
Bump. Rooms are available at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence this morning. Phone number is 785-843-1200. The Oread is located about a hop skip and jump from the stadium and is located right on campus. The same company also owns the Eldridge if you prefer to stay down on Mass Street. Both hotels are really nice, have great food, and great bars. I think the Oread has something like 5 bars in it. Get your reservations made this morning because they won't last until noon most likely.
Price for a double queen room for Friday and Saturday = $461.00

Re: Kansas in 2012
Maybe KULawguy has heard but does anybody know who Kansas is pursuing for the head coaching position?
I was kind of hoping they'd poach Coach Bohl out of NDSU. I'm sure they know who he is since his FCS squad beat Kansas last year and he should have some Big 12 ties from his Nebraska days.

While I feel that Bohl is a really great coach, and a good guy.....I highly doubt that the Kansas higher brass will jump for another coach with no big time head coach experience.....and another NU assistant at that. If I were a gambling man, I would bet that their next coach will be a former 'big time' coach, who they want to see if they have any tread left on the tires. (think Mike Sherman, Houston Nutt, Rick Neuheisel) Just my thoughts.

Larry Fedora - more likely he is looking at aTm.
Gus Mahlzan - KU would be lucky to grab him.
Dave Christensen (HC at Wyoming) - He's won there.
Chris Petersen - highly unlikely
Sonny Dykes (HC at Louisiana Tech)
Dave Doeren (HC at NIU)"All I know is what I read on the message boards."
