Using game location, with +1 for road wins and -1 for home losses, the standings, including the 1/15 games are:

        ORU +4, Jacks +2, WN +2, KC -, NDSU -, St Thomas -, USD -1, UND -2, Den -2, UNO -3.

Denver gets a road win at KC. Last conference road win was February 24, 2018. 27 losses in a row. Last road win of any kind was December 11, 2018 at Wyoming.

If KC could play defense without all the fouls, it would make some difference. Denver was 30-36 at the free throw line. KC shot 36% and was outrebounded by 18 while Denver turned the ball over 26 times. KC offense is horrible with terrible shooting.

I would certainly put NDSU ahead of WIU. I get that WIU is coming off a win in Fargo, but this is a team that also lost to UNO and was blown out by St. Thomas. We all know that come tournament time NDSU is going to be a threat to win it all while WIU has yet to prove that. That being said, WIU is a scary team that may be a tough matchup for us due to their size. However, we are also a scary matchup for them as their bigs are going to be put in space guarding the 3 point line.

WIU is going to be tough to beat in Macomb. That trip is notorious, plus they’re a solid team with legit star power. Carius and Massner are a handful. I don’t know if they’ll be a bigger threat than NDSU in Sioux Falls but I would not be at all surprised to see them hang with the Jacks on Saturday. ORU only won by one point at Macomb.

Nelson is a huge loss for NDSU. They’re super vulnerable to a paint attack by the likes of Wilson, Appel, and Dentlinger without him. It sounds like he’ll be back by the tournament but maybe not before the game at Frost.

KC goes on a 21-0 run after NDSU had a big lead to beat the Bison. NDSU sitting at 3-3, and still have to play at ORU, SDSU and do the St. Thomas-WIU road trip. Hate to root for the Bison, but they could do the Jacks a big favor by winning in Tulsa on Saturday.

                    3. Oral Roberts (6) | 545
                    4. South Dakota | 480
                    5. Western Illinois | 356

                    9. Denver | 217
                    10. St. Thomas | 120
Denver & St Thomas are mild surprises at the "halfway" point of the conference season. Leathernecks are underperforming a bit. The preseason guesses were not too far from the current reality.
                    1. SDSU 8-0
                    2.ORU 7-2
                    3.NDSU 4-3
                    4.USD 4-3
                    5.KC 4-3
                    6.DU 4-5
                    7.WIU 3-4
                    8. STU 2-4
                    9. Omaha 2-7
                    10. UND 0-7

The Leathernecks hand ORU their third loss by 5 in Tulsa. Were up by 23 at the half and held on. Abmas was scoreless at the half, but went off in the second. Was totally gassed and cramping up at the end.

ORU scored 63 points in the 2nd. That’s insane. Abmas scored his first 2 points with 15:32 left in the game and ended with 33.

I caught that second half - man Abmas is dangerous. Everybody on the court knew he was going to try to shoot every single possession yet he still scored at an incredible rate. If he happens to have a game like that in Sioux Falls no one will beat them - even if they have a 25-man rotation! I had to slip that in there....

That home ORU loss really gives the Jacks cushion. We also beat NDSU twice (compared to ORU's 1-1 record) and there's a good chance NDSU will be high enough in the standings to be the tie-breaker.

ORU still has to make the North Dakota trip in two weeks. But 1-1 is the best they can do against NDSU - they very well could end up 0-2.

The game at the other end of the standings found UND ahead 19 points mid 2nd half. The FHawks panicked with the lead and lost the OT to Denver who did not look great outside of Hunt. Omaha gave NDSU a challenge and they are the closest to UND in the SLT runoff.
