WIU is going to be tough to beat in Macomb. That trip is notorious, plus they’re a solid team with legit star power. Carius and Massner are a handful. I don’t know if they’ll be a bigger threat than NDSU in Sioux Falls but I would not be at all surprised to see them hang with the Jacks on Saturday. ORU only won by one point at Macomb.
Nelson is a huge loss for NDSU. They’re super vulnerable to a paint attack by the likes of Wilson, Appel, and Dentlinger without him. It sounds like he’ll be back by the tournament but maybe not before the game at Frost.

Preseason Poll (First-Place Votes) | Total Points
1. South Dakota State (23) |636
2. North Dakota State (7) | 606

Denver & St Thomas are mild surprises at the "halfway" point of the conference season. Leathernecks are underperforming a bit. The preseason guesses were not too far from the current reality.

That home ORU loss really gives the Jacks cushion. We also beat NDSU twice (compared to ORU's 1-1 record) and there's a good chance NDSU will be high enough in the standings to be the tie-breaker.

The game at the other end of the standings found UND ahead 19 points mid 2nd half. The FHawks panicked with the lead and lost the OT to Denver who did not look great outside of Hunt. Omaha gave NDSU a challenge and they are the closest to UND in the SLT runoff.Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans.
