No doubt an idenity crisis at UND and GF, especially the die hard hockey fans. They would all give up their romagrot, lefse, Ole, Norwegian for beer, and other Norwegian goodies in order to keep that sacred logo. ( I dont have the three extra letters in the Norweigan alphabet on my keyboards, so the word for beer should not be confused with Ole and Lena Jokes. Its a letter o with a slash pronounced olll. Cant think of an english word that it ryhme with. None the less, I think a great deal of UND as an institution and like TV, am happy that this issue is finally coming to an end.

I heard new UND President on KFGO radio yesterday. He is hardly a proponent of keeping the logo. He seems to want to work with the tribes and the NCAA and get this issue behind him. He was asked about the existing logos at the Englestad and elsewhere and he said that the plan is to phase out the logos where ever possible and as soon as possible, for instance if the logo is on a carpet, the carpet will be replaced without the logo. Also some of the logos in the ice arena may stay for historical purposes. Not sure what he meant, but we will no doubt find out. Also logos on uniforms will be gone after this coming year. So its seems like a done deal in the President's mind and yes the true UND FANS are pissed at him on the SiouxSports. com. Stand fast, Mr. President of UND.

They are able under rule to keep the NC and WCHA conference Champ Banners with Logos, the Logos etched into the Marble floors, and the Statues outside. I don't know if you have ever been the REA but there is a logo every 2 feet!!! 2,000 plus in total. I would have to say the Banners will the "historical" part of the story

Never was inside REA, but I trust your word about the logos. Ralph was a wild about his logos. I have never seen an outsider and when I say outsider I mean an alum who gives a generous donation have so much say about the affairs of the institution. Its incredible and I have not heard anything recently about the transfer of REA to UND.

If I get lucky tonight and win the 150 million power ball, I probably would give a considerable amount to SDSU and for athletics, but would do so in the most unobtrusive manner possible. One thing I would not ask for is that my name being splattered on some new asset. I guess its about ego.

Nope nothing. CAS already has a proper name, and since I am an alumni, my name is technically already in the staduim name. If I were so lucky, I think my gift would go towards the endowment for scholarships. That already has a name too.

IMO "Coughlin-Alumni Stadium" is a perfect name for a college football field.

Much better than "FargoDome", "Dakota Dome", "Alerus Center", etc.

Unlike myself, I don't think you're telling the truth.

Other 'perfect' college stadium names:

"Memorial Stadium", "(State Name) Stadium", "(Nickname) Stadium"

"Dacotah Field" = awesome, "Fargo Dome" = pathetic.

If it has the word 'dome' in it, it's not perfect, because it means the teams are playing inside, on glorified indoor/outdoor carpet.

you are correct I'm not a huge "FARGODOME" fan, but also am not a huge "insert Corporate name" DOME or Field fan either!! but yes Dacotah Field was a great name! I would assume in the coming years the name of the Fargodome will change as they will sell the naming rights, especially with the BBall Arena thing
