    Re: Coyote Athletics

Just finished baking two apple pies from scratch. Gods help me, it will be a while before I do that again. One benefit: the recipe called for applejack. Apple brandy, yum.

Two tablespoons for the pie, two ounces for me. Two tablespoons for the pie...

Oh, and a couple of you are thinking of yote4ever. He was the 14 year old on here a year or so back that made laughable attempts at smack.

The UxD fans just don't get it, do they? The talent curve from DII to DI is something you just can't believe until you're deep in the transition. In most sports, the curve within DI is even worse. They'll learn ... eventually.

      Hammersmith's Apple Pie recipe:

      1. Take large sip of applejack.

      2. Prepare pie crust (actual instructions elided).

      3. Take large sip of applejack.

      4. Think about preparing filling from scratch.

      5. Take large sip of applejack.

      6. Say "screw it" and hit the pantry looking for apple pie filling. See the storebought pie crusts in the back of the pantry. Curse silently. Don't find any apple pie filling.

      7. Take large sip of applejack.

      8. Appeal to spouse to drive you to HyVee (or Cub Foods, maybe) to buy apple pie filling. Sip on refreshed glass of applejack while she gets her coat.

      9. On the drive to the grocery store, pass a Perkins, say "hell, hon, let's just get a pie there!" in a rather slurred voice.

      10. Buy Perkins apple pie. Forget to take the change from the Perkins checkout girl.

      11. Fall asleep on drive home. Between the wife and the kids, you don't get any pie.

      12. Wake up the next morning, still sitting in the car in the garage, freezing cold and with a hell of an applejack hangover.

      13. Decide that an apple pie would taste good and return to step 1.
      "I think we'll be OK"

Was able to catch a good visual of you spraying the screen with your DC.

Thanks for the rep points. You get your pie a la mode! Speaking of pie, you should try the pie from Pies Plus. They have pies in freezers at the Lewis and Ace Hardware locations in Brookings. Almost as good as a Nick's Burger or George's Pizza in the wee hours. Here's the linky:

Try the Pecan Cheesecake Pie. It's to die for! Perfect for that 17-hour bus trip home from the football game!

For you 'Yote fans on here. You may want to contact Jan from Pies Plus about having a bake sale fundraiser at your next home basketball game at VHS. Seriously, they are that good. With the crowds you guys draw there is no doubt in my mind that you could clear $2-300 easy!

Don't say I never try and help the U!

Jan looks a lot like David Letterman's mom (other than the fact Jan looks a lot younger).

Yeah, I know. She bakes them in the basement of her house in Lake Preston and then brings them over to Brookings and each store has a freezer which she stocks a couple times a week.

Next time you are in town you should try one. They are the real deal!

This kind of makes it sound like I have a stake in the operation. Maybe I should give her a call.

Back to the topic, I have received a couple of PM's from the Coyote Fans on here. They love the bake sale idea and I think they are going to jump on it! I pitched the idea of a "Gooey Louie" pie to them. Should sell like hotcakes at VHS!

It's the holiday season. Be nice to the silly Coyotie fans. They have nothing to look forward to for years, so they have to spend a lot of time dreaming about playing SDSU again. Personally, I hope the baskeball teams play again next year. The SDSU women would beat USD by 30, and the SDSU men would beat USD by 20. Easy. Matching up in football is a few years off. USD could be back in D-II by then.
                              This space for lease.

When was the last time the SDSU men beat someone by 20?

I guess they beat Maryville by 30.
Before that it was Texas-Pan American (?) in the 2005-2006 season.
