You'd beat Oklahoma in the Dome as well.

My sentiments exactly. I'm thinking more like a 30 to 40 point win for the Jacks. Piece o'cake.

BTW, is that bus back from Carolina yet?

        Re: Coyote Athletics

Out of curiosity, I went to the USD message board. There are posts supposedly from the USD Men's Basketball Team captains, responding to the "haters" (their words, not mine). Ouch! Athletes should probably not go to message boards (they were as much told that by a subsequent post).

Must have ripped me off. I mean who wouldn't want to do that?

Haha and I'm not sure that last part is going to happen.

-17,000 at CAS: are you saying that USD is coming to Brookings every year?

-3000 students: If this is "THE GAME" that you say it would be, it would be at least double the amount of students. Probably close to 7,000 (remember there are a heck of a lot more students in Brookings than in Vermillion). Knock off 4000 paying fans and the money is reduced $100,000. Now down to $150,000 (unless of course the game is never going to be in Vermillion).

-Corporate Sponsorships are already contracted for regular season, so to get extra money means SDSU would have to break existing contracts with sponsors, line up new sponsors, and get extra money. That won't ever happen. Treat sponsors or donors like crap and you get more problems, not more money.

-Awards? what are you talking about

-Naming rights? Well I suppose you could say we get naming rights for Beef Bowl, Cereal Bowl, etc. but not sure what the dollar amounts are, but no where near enough to make up for your previous assumptions. But I'll be generous to a fault and give you $50K (no idea where that would come from) and so we end up at best at revenue of $100K (again, unless of course the game is never going to be in Vermillion). But that comes at the cost of having exposure across the country which is a benefit of for the entire university, not just athletics.

-The State Legislature. All of the IA universities involved in the mandate have said it was a bad thing for them. You need to be able to follow some logic here, so read slowly: The games themselves are not bad for each university, however the requirement to have them is. Certain years it works for the schools, and other years it doesn't. It would be better for all of the schools to be able to schedule the games when it is a benefit, instead of having to do it. Any mandate to schedule an opponent is bad for both universities.

But the biggest problem of all with you thought process is that you are "the rival" to the south. I truly do not hear that from the vast majority of SDSU fans. I do not. I am at a lot of alumni events and it is a small minority of people that think it is bad that we don't schedule USD, a small minority that think we should never schedule USD, and the vast majority that say "whatever." If the fan base thinks "whatever" about an opponent, they are not a rival no matter what the opponent's fans think. You were a conference mate in the NCC, so was UNI. UNI is again a conference mate (FB) so based on your reasoning they could claim they are our big rival. They wouldn't and they aren't.

Do I think USD vs SDSU will never happen again? No, but if it does it isn't the most important game of the season, regardless of sport. In fact it is way down the list. All conference games are far more important, regardless of sport. And in case you hadn't noticed, none of the above relates to which team would win the actual contest.
So back in the early 2000's the fans that were standing in line at Frost Arena to try to get tickets for a sold out game against USD were all saying "Whatever". But yet I am sure those same people that care so much about other rivals have been getting turned away from Frost repeatedly for Summit League opponents. I wonder what those fans have been saying. I would venture to guess that those crowds of 1,500 are very happy with the fan turnout for the great rivals such as Centenary and Western Illinois. No sense in getting USD on the home schedule because I am sure the game wouldn't draw much more than 2,000. According to many on the board the rivalry has probably disappeared to the point that only a few hundred would even both to show up for a game that they knew SDSU would win by 50.

Reality check, competitively the Summit games might be more important but ask a fan that is sitting on their hands at Frost how important that Summit League game is. Better yet ask all the fans that aren't at the game how important that Summit League game is. Actions are much louder than words. Why is it that so many people on this board disregard USD as a past rival but yet aren't the ones standing up and cheering for that big game at Frost for 9th place in the league. The same ones that were yelling hate chants towards USD and cheering their arses off in front of a packed house just a few short years ago. But Nah USD doesn't really make much sense to play does it.

              Re: Coyote Athletics

Your talking about the big one being basketball? You definetly are not going to draw the big bucks for that. If you think you are, you truely are dillusional.
Since you mentioned Western Illinois, the fans at SDSU have more than made up for the Hobo Week hangover in football, evidence is the higher seasonal attendance at CAS....this is happening without USD.

Keep smoking the big bertha youngster, go back to the U-period board and cry about this there.

EDIT: Woops, anyone that would listen on that board is probably over on this board to much. (ALL THREE OF YOUR MEMBERS).

I didn't really even get sleepy on Thanksgiving, even though I stuffed myself silly. (There's no such thing as gluttony on Thanksgiving, right?) I think mostly why I didn't get tired though, is after food, all the guys went outside and either hunted pheasant or screwed around on the farm.

                        Good times.

I get tired on Thanksgiving because I simply drink too much beer. Is there anything wrong with that?
