Re: Cody Larson II....
Hydrocodone is an opiod narcotic derived from morphine, same thing heroin is derived from. Morphine is derived from the opium poppy. Abusing hydrocodone is a serious issue. Taking hydrocodone to get "high" is abuse.
Providing hydrocodone illegally would be even more concerning.
Being in the same room where someone else took hydrocodone is certainly less serious. Sounds like Cody needs to hang out with people who make better choices or help those who are making poor choices to make better ones.

Re: Cody Larson II....
Interesting tidbit on story about the Gophers, apparently the scholarship-transfer rule in the Big 10 is not ironclad.
"They pursued Ben Brust, a prep guard from Illinois who was recently released from his LOI to Iowa, but backed off when Big Ten officials wouldn't allow him to accept a scholarship from another conference school. But Northwestern and Wisconsin appealed the league's ruling and won."

There's nothing new to talk about. He's going to Florida. Some people like it and some don't for different reasons.
But please carry on if you'd like. No worries here.

It's an ongoing struggle for most schools. Even the traditional powerhouses are at risk for having athletes get away from them.
I hope Larson does well.
Go to message boards for just about every college team and you'll see the same discussion that goes on here regarding keeping instate recruits at home. Everyone has an opinion. SDSU fans are no different.

Re: Cody Larson II....
IN MY OPINION, I'd rather stay at SDSU rather than go to Florida. You could help a home state team win the conference and make the big dance. That would help with recruiting and other things. There are other factors such as playing time and closeness to home that would factor in. I don't know how much he'll play at Florida and he must not mind getting away from here. It could be a good thing for him to get away with his situation.
I'm just not a big fan of the SEC. The SEC, USC and OSU are the schools that I look at as not very "student athlete" friendly(or should I say too athlete friendly). That's just my opinion and he has his.
I hope things work out for him.

I feel if she stayed to go to SDSU many people who have said oh thats to bad, she could have gone off some where bigger or better. I say enough of that mind set. I think it would be best to start with the local media as one place. Also friends and family support to help keep the top students and atheletes in the state.

Re: Cody Larson II....
I think the media is coming around. The Argus has TV, who is a dedicated and passionate beat writer. KSFY has a weekly SDSU show. Midcontinent shows games. KWSN's coverage is improving. ESPN 99.1's coverage is good. I have had private discussions w/ both Gaskins and Mattik. Gaskins is a little more open minded and dare I say neutral. Mattik....well....you know. The coverage is better, more games on TV, more about the Jacks in the Argus, etc. Heck, even Scheel's is carrying way more SDSU stuff than they ever used to. It's coming around and I think the addition of USD to the Summit will only help w/ regional exposure. I also think Justin Sell's vision of selling the Jacks more to Sioux Falls and the whole state will payoff. I've said for years that SDSU should market itself much better in SF. Dare I say all of this is in large part due to a SUCCESSFUL move to D1? Whaddya say Craig?
We need kids wearing SDSU apparel, going to games, dreaming of playing in Frost or Coughlin when they grow up.
