Wrong. The report listed many things at fault. As far as the BOT, they were critized in the report starting on page 14.

I guess I haven't read it but I have heard it was funded by the university. I also have only hear about the Presidents, VP, AD and JoePa and the trustees for being out of the loop as being the main people at fault in this report or that's the main things I've heard be at fault. But how can the BOT not know, they had to know so it is convenient for them to be "in the dark". Whether through rumor or heresay they had to have heard something. The BOT have also handled this situation horribly and need to be disbanded or new trustees because their handling of this situation proves their incompetence.

yes I know, but it seems like the whole "investigation" by the university was to pick the easiest and most recognizable and least amount people to blame while thinking of the easiest reason to not be held accountable or be in the wrong to save their own face. Why didn't the NCAA or an outside source fund the "investigation"?

The NCAA doesn't have much control in situations like this. Sandusky's actions were horribly criminal, but they didn't break NCAA rules. Many people called for the NCAA to give Penn State the death penalty, but they can't because the crimes don't violate NCAA rules, not even by lack of institutional control.

This whole incident is very sickening, no question about it. But it is because of this incident and those that happen similar to it at various universities and colleges across the country, that I was opposed to both our fine institutions to make the move to D-1. Once you did it, it left Abbott no choice but to make the same decision, but here is why I say this. We all have been guilty on this board, our board, and boards of other teams always wanting to get into a better league for this reason or for that reason. That's natural. But once you get there, it seems that you almost do what you have to do to maintain or advance. So if there was a problem in your program that had not yet been discovered by GQ Public, many times instititutions do whatever they can to keep it hidden or covered up for fear that it will prevent them from climbing upward and onward. I understand the Penn State fiasco is really bizarre and really sick, but i would venture to bet that there are several programs who have some dirty laundry they don't want aired out and the pressure of that is greater at the Division I level than anywhere else. Now that both programs are where we are, I pray to God that our presidents and fan base demand nothing but the running of a top not h program and one we can ALWAYS be proud of. No one is without temptation.

This is like saying corruption in federal politics is worse than at the state and local levels. Aspiring for higher achievement does not inherently beget corruption and immorality and illegal actions; corrupt and immoral people do.

I agree with NoVaJack, because corruption is at every level, not just the higher but also the lower levels. Just because you are say NAIA does not mean there isn't corruption because it's a lower level. There is always corruption and always will be corrupt people. I don't see how being D1 means there is automatically going to be corruption. And in the Penn States case, which is coverup of a former high level DC, it could happen at South Harmon Institute of Technology for the same reason for all I know.

Oh, c'mon, that's the best you got? Under your logic, the Montana rape scandal wouldn't have happened had the Griz just stayed in D-II.

The NCAA could punish them easily. Just throw it under the broad umbrella of "lack of institutional control."

Can't. It's already been said by the NCAA that it doesn't go under that and therefore can't punish them for "lack of institutional control"
