Yeah. But with Macie's size (if she's 5'6, I'm 7'2), it's very difficult for her to pass out of a trap, and long passes are how you beat full court pressure.

She can avoid picking up her dribble in the back court because she's pretty good at varying her pace moving the ball, but it's hard for me to recall an instance of her passing out of a trap, unless it was backwards/lateral to a player that came back to help. Having a bit of height/reach in the PG spot might help get out of a trap.

But don't get me wrong, I love watching Macie play. If she were 4" taller, she would be an all time great at SDSU---or just about any other school.

I feel a little coaching adjustment would make that happen. back cuts, screens, set inbound plays to help break a press. we have height to pass over it which would be the most likely way to get by. So a full court press would not be as much of a factor to me if Macie was out. I think AJ would not be a fan of that but he is a smart enough coach to make what he has work the best way it can, which is usually his way anyway.

Passing backwards/lateral or to a player coming back to help out of a trap is not uncommon for any player. That is why when facing a full court press most teams have a player stay back with the ballhandler to allow them to catch a pass and reverse the ball. I realize your point that a taller player can maybe pass over the top of a trap, which a shorter player has more difficulty doing.
I've said it before...we are a much better team with her on the court. She's been the starting point guard on two Summit Championship teams and in 3 NCAA tournament games. That's a decent resume for a point guard.
