That run was one of the loudest moments I ever remember during the recent rivalry. I also remember the team playing in Omaha which was actually the last meeting. The Jacks were starting to control the game but at the end of the first half and for much of the second half USD was just too much to overcome. That will be my memories of the rivalry.
This is an excellent example of how much emphasis the Yote fans put on Women's BB. None! Yote, your on the Jacks board in the Women's thread talking men's BB. Sad!

And as long as he is in the women's threads, he should bring up Mandy Koupal's stint when the Jacks won 6 of the 8 games played against her.
When the Jacks lost Mandy things looked pretty gloomy for our WBB program. But, O'my how things have taken a turn to the better. The women have really overcome some impact transfers with players leaving the program for one reason or another. Mostly to focus on their education which anyone can understand. I am going to try and remember as many names as possible and just the bigs that left the program over the years. I suspect others will remember additional names but here are a few.

Cala Westergard 6ft 2in and Laura Nielsen 6"2' in the last couple of years.
Abby Kratovil 6ft 2 and Sara Meckly another 6ft 2in post from Wisc.

Kassy Hegge 6ft and Natalie Carda 6ft 1in posts.

Going back to the mid 80's Ellen chamberlain and Lorrie Lodmel both 6ft.

None were more disappointing than Mandy transferring to USD. But the Jacks prevailed with a couple of conf championships, regional and national champions. Not to mention the success the Jacks have had since the D1 move.

If the Jacks win by 50 or more - the Oat fans will say we're poor sports - just running it up on little ol' them for the sake of doing so. The Jacks are losers.

If the Jacks win by 25-50 - the Oat fans will say, that's what they expected, after all the Jacks are 5 years ahead of them and SHOULD beat them by such a number. The Jacks are losers.

If the Jacks win by 10-25 - the Oat fans will say, the Jacks aren't so great, after all, the Jacks are 5 years ahead of them it shouldn't have been so close. The Jacks are losers.

If the game is closer than 10 (say the women shoot like the men did Saturday against the Bizon - can happen) - the Oat fans will say, the Jacks aren't so great - this may rank up with our almost win with North Carolina and one of the best in THE rivalry. The Jacks are losers.

Time will tell - 7 hours and 15 minutes til tip off - don't forget Jacks fans, any way we cut it - to the Oat fans, we'll be THE losers.

This game is a "no-win" situation for the SDSU Women's Basketball Program. The Athletic Dept...due to the fact it should be a good gate...maybe a win.

This game and future games with USD for the next 10 years will be "no win" situations for SDSU, due to the fact that everytime USD loses, we'll hear the same thing. "Well, you guys have been D-1 longer, you should beat us."

But, this is the chance SDSU takes in order to placate the SF Media Market and a few "average fans" that will probably ONLY go to this game every year anyway. Especially a bunch of them that are wearing RED. Heck, I guarantee there's USD fans there tonight that haven't been to a USD game since the last SDSU/USD game. Heck, probably a few wearing blue too. Is that a "good thing??"...I guess everyone has their opinion on that.

          Go Jacks!!

With the commissioner of the Summit in attendence, I wonder if we'll at least get a well officiated game ?

Perhaps the Summit should, in order to drive up attendance, just have a drawing and one fan from each school gets to don the stripes. Can't do much worse...

I wonder if USD isn't at least a little concerned about having their future commish in the stands. How many yote games has he actually been to I wonder?

I agree that if the weather holds, the gate will be the only 'win' tonight. I also like the idea of each school providing a ref, although things could get ugly if they turned on each other and 'threw off the gloves'!

Go Jacks! Let's send em' home with their tails between their legs!!!

He was there Saturday night also and we did not get a well officiated men's game.

He was in attendance Saturday evening also and it sure didn't help there. Bad officiating for both teams. Summit league needs to cough up more money. If you pay the most you get the best. Until then.

First off, who cares what any Coyote fan has to say? Secondly, there won't be much said when it's our 2nd team doing the damage as our starters are resting.

All 3 quotes from this article: "We won't tolerate it, period," said Summit commissioner Tom Douple, who will be in Brookings for the game. "We've got rules. We're going to enforce them, and all our members realize it."

"If you're going to the game, you're coming to support one or the other," she said. "Pick whatever team you want to support, but it shouldn't be about what can I do to affect the game." (Statement made by SDSU's Ketty Cornemann--great way to put it too)

"If they're wearing a shirt that is offensive, we'll ask them to turn it inside out," said Sell, who took office last spring. "If they refuse to do so, we'll take it, and if they refuse that, we'll refuse entry. We'll try to do it in a positive way. I'm not out to get people. I want them to come and I want them to have fun. I don't want it to be an overly policed environment."

Tom Douple and Justin Sell will be outside Frost to welcome students before the game tonight. Nice way for them to get out and meet the fans.

Tell that to the 2,500 Yotes fans that showed up in Kearney Nebraska to watch the team play in the NCAA D2 championship game? That doesn't sound like no interest to me. I think like any programs the womens fans are kind of bandwagon fans but just 2 years ago USD proved they will support their team with a good product on the floor.

Here's hoping for good, clean competition, that no one gets hurt, no one goes over the line, the Jacks win, USD puts up a good fight, and the rivalry resumes. In other word, sports with the fans but not the fanatics and lunatics. Rivalry2.0 is worth having.
