Re: Ok.. I am ready for basketball...

    Replying to jackdaniel from 8-9-09---
The Lady Raiders return the entire roster (including nation's leading scorer and probable pre-season All-American candidate Alysha Clark) and add a top-30 recruiting class.

The team is built to press. From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the team never lets up. It's why opponents shoot so well is that WHEN they beat the press, they have easy layups. It's the whole "beat the press" part that causes most teams trouble.

On offense, Alysha Clark is a one woman scoring machine. No matter the defender, she gets her points. But if you dare try to double her, the outside shooters are deadly. Coach Rick Insell is less inclined to pull a player for taking a "bad shot" than he is to pull a player for not taking the shot in the first place. Jackie Pickel in particular has a green light from the moment she crosses midcourt. Brandi Brown, at 6-3, is a matchup nightmare as she loves to play high-low with Clark.

The best part of this series has been that the road team has won every game. I'm obviously hoping to see that trend continue this season.

Of course you do, that wasn't my point. I'm just saying that with the game in Brookings I might be willing to bet a buck or two on the Jacks. With it in Murfreesboro, I probably wouldn't without some serious odds. BTW: I lived in Sioux Falls for eleven years back in the 60's and early 70's and am no stranger to SDSU athletics. God knows that my Augustana Vikings were on the losing end of many meetings.

I think both teams are deserving of a lot of respect. Two proud teams with a history of excellence.I'll be attending this game for sure, should be a real battle. Not alway's a gimme, as the WNIT game with Creighton showed, but the Jacks playing at Frost, just makes it all that much harder for the opposition to come away with a victory.Very strange that the visiting team has won each of the three games.I'll be rooting for the Jacks to break the string of visitor victory's.

MTSU and SDSU have had a GREAT Mid-Major rivalry going, and I'm happy to see the Lady Raiders back on the schedule.

This is a great get for AJ, as this home-n-home STARTS in Brookings. AFAIR, this will be the FIRST top team to START as a series in Brookings, rather than at the other school.

I think that the next time that you see MN on the schedule, it will be in Brookings.

I read the gopher forum quite regularly , & even the gopher fans say they don't blame us for refusing to have to play them at thier home all the time. One poster even jokingly said that Pam Borton might want to stay away from the Jacks for awhile, although, i don't think they'll get much of a reprieve(sp) by scheduling the Bison this year, who should be much improved over last yr in my opinion.

Of course, I think the Gophers will be better too this yr.Guess that's why they play the game.

Also read the Purdue board, to keep tabs on how Ostarello is doing there, & seems the big ten folks have scheduled rather easy opponents as they have the big ten season to bolster thier RPI,s during the year.Seems unfair ours goes down from playing Summit teams & the big ten can count on thiers going up enough to be selected every yr it seems if they finish in the top 4 team grouping, even though they play a weak OOC schedule, when we have to roll the dice & play a tough OOC ,just to get noticed.
What we need is for the top teams in the Summit to kick some butt in thier OOC schedule for the league to gain some respect.

Arizona State's head coach Charli Turner Thorne gives some love to the Jackrabbits. She discusses their schedule about 7 1/2 minutes in to the video. Should be a great game against the Sun Devils!

Wow. Where was her mic? The next building over?

Definitely gave SDSU some love: Speaking of SDSU, Xavier, Baylor & Texas Tech, "Those are four top 15 teams, probably two top ten teams"

Women's pictures are now posted on Roster section of Gojacks.com

Also if you read the biography's of the incoming freshman I don't think the team GPA will be dropping anytime soon.

I don't believe the biographies of the freshmen include their senior years of high school, yet.

There seems to be a typo in the last line of Steph's bio.
