The Lady Raiders return the entire roster (including nation's leading scorer and probable pre-season All-American candidate Alysha Clark) and add a top-30 recruiting class.
The team is built to press. From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the team never lets up. It's why opponents shoot so well is that WHEN they beat the press, they have easy layups. It's the whole "beat the press" part that causes most teams trouble.
On offense, Alysha Clark is a one woman scoring machine. No matter the defender, she gets her points. But if you dare try to double her, the outside shooters are deadly. Coach Rick Insell is less inclined to pull a player for taking a "bad shot" than he is to pull a player for not taking the shot in the first place. Jackie Pickel in particular has a green light from the moment she crosses midcourt. Brandi Brown, at 6-3, is a matchup nightmare as she loves to play high-low with Clark.
The best part of this series has been that the road team has won every game. I'm obviously hoping to see that trend continue this season.
