Re: Ok.. I am ready for basketball...
I was going thru the NCAA statistics for last year comparing the Jackrabbit stats with those of Middle Tenn State U. , and came to the conclusion (sp?) that they are an offensive minded team, we were pretty good on offense , but way better playing defense.Alysha Clark shoots at about 60%, which is unreal to me, considering she attempted over 500 shots last season. Is thier whole conference more offense orientated, where as the Summit is more balanced with offensive production & defensive tenacity?Defensive field goal % was 306th at allowing opposition to score at 43.4% where as we let opposition score at 37.9%, ranking 84 th.Scoring offense was 8th vs. 16th for us, which translates to us scoring 73 pts game to them at 76 pts.We lost our # 1 scorer where as they still have thiers so that gap may or may not widen. We held opponents to 54 pts to them allowing 60 pts.I can't figure out who will have the advantage in the game, so, guess I'll just go and watch it.I do think though that a strong defensive effort might bother them a little bit & limit thier offensive production some.We alway's bring a tough defense. We rebound better too, which gives us way more 3 pt shooting opportunity's to cash in on,we're a pretty good 3 pt shooting team.Of course Jenn Warkenthien was also our best rebounder too.I think I run the risk of over analyzing this particular gameBut this game facinates me , maybe because they took MSU to the wire in the tournement , losing by one point.Likewise we gave Baylor all they wanted.Maybe this game will be for the bragging rights to be considered one of the best mid-major's in the country . Would like for us to play Xavier sometime too.To be the best, you gotta play the best.
