Uh, there were 55 fouls called, and from where I sat, they missed about 15 or 20.

When I go to a game, I don't want fast breaks and contested rebounds. I want it to look like pairs figure skating.

And I want all the players to wear tutus and toe shoes and pink uniforms, and would it kill them to have a bit more tulle?

After all, if I wanted to see --BASKETBALL--, I'd pay to see the MEN play, right?

As mentioned before, the officiating in the Summitt has been very disappointing to say the least. I have seen the blonde ref a high school game on Thursday night and then go to a Jacks game on Friday and see her ref a Summitt game. She was not even good at the high school game. The same can be said about the men. I watched a SF ref do a Yankton HS game on a Tuesday, a Mount Marty game on Wednesday and a SDSU game on Friday. Didn't do a good job in any of them. Is this the best we can get?

I'll only say one thing about the one official. She basically kept Oakland in the game during their second half run. Specifically at that time when others mentioned the horrible block call against Muck and the ridiculous call on the blocked shot by Boever. If that one person does her job with any level of competence Oakland is probably done with about 15 minutes to play. That said, you have to overcome it and the Jackrabbits did.

I'd just note again for lurkers from other Summit League schools and elsewhere: We're complaining bitterly about refereeing - - - and we WON. That's how bad the refereeing was last night.

I caught myself last night wishing for the good old days of NCC refereeing crews . . . the Summit League REALLY, REALLY needs to do something to improve the refereeing for league games. As it stands now, it's a significant drag on the quality of play all the way around.

Summit League refereeing is the punch line to a not particularly funny joke.

I hope my hangover from last night goes away before tommorrow nights game.

The Jacks need to have some tough games to stay sharp for the tournaments to come. Let's have some blowouts in the mix but throw in some tough games also. Wins by 25 to 35 points don't teach anything and build up a false sense of dominance and confidence. Easier on our hearts but lead to sloppy play when sharpe play is required.

I found myself really missing the NDSU game refs who managed to "only" whistle 39 fouls in a game that was at least as physical as the Oakland game.

For the benefit of any Oakland fans visiting here (or any other Summit fans) that was the worst call on us, but there were an equal number of touchy, lousy calls on Oakland. The refs performance was an equal opportunity crapfest.
              Holy nutmeg!

I like the old adage: you don't lose a game because of the refs...the good teams still find a way to win. We won. I won't comment much on the refs but we still found a way to win.

I was impressed by Oakland. That's a good team and they'll be dangerous when we meet again.

Count me in as impressed as well. I don't want any of the complaining about the officials to take away from the performance of both teams on the court. Oakland has a very good team.

We may think that NDSU is our rival but I think Oakland will become the games that fans on both sides of the court will start to look forward to. These two teams have the makins of being some really good games.

Going to post this on both the men's and women's thread in hopes the individuals involved see it or if someone that knows them can say thanks to them. My daughter and I got to the game and were really glad we went the reserved ticket seat route, but when we got to our seats, some coats were in them. We get the usher over just to make sure we are in the right place, she confirms it and moves the coats and we prepare for the games. We were in the AA section, so each seat over is less of a good view. As you probably can tell, after a few minutes, the other people come back and they have tickets for the same seats. Usher comes over, not sure what happened but both sets of tickets had same seats.

The other couple graciously agreed to sit in the seats down the row and would never switch with us at half or for the mens game. My daughter was very nervous that we were going to have to leave the game and these people were very nice about the whole thing. I found out that when they got to will call, there was nothing waiting for them so they had to have it looked up to verify they had ordered the tickets, the right charges on the credit card etc., etc. And when they get done with all this, someone takes their seats anyway.

The thing I regret is that I did not get their names. If watching those two games didn't make last night special for them, I want them to know that as soon as we got to the car my daughter said she, "I am so thankful that the nice people next to us didn't make us leave as this was the best night ever."

If you are out there, thanks again. Jackrabbit fans are the best.

The refs didn't win or lose the game for anyone. They just destroyed the flow of the game so both teams had to scramble. As a fan, I'm just asking the refs to let them play a little. I don't think any of us wants any more free throw contests in meaningful conference games.

Absolutely agree with the issue of the refs. As I said over in the men's thread, the problem with the inconsistency of the referees is that the players don't know what rules they are playing under. In the women's game, I felt that the blond hair ref was completely out of sync with the other two. She was at times calling a very close and I thought ticky-tacky game, but then she would go a couple of minutes with letting that stuff go by right in front of her. You could see the puzzled look on the refs faces more than once when the whistle stopped play.

There were about 140 possessions last night & 55 fouls called.
