Just wish you and I coulda been one of the 5600 at the game! I gave my SD friends and family my personal invite to attend for me however.

Great game Jen and great turnout and outcome.

    GO JACKS
I wanted to be there soooo bad. I may just have to plan for the tournament. And pray they get the East Lansing site for the Ncaa

Well, this was the first game that I made it to this year (and my gf's first SDSU BB game ever!) and was impressed with the team and the crowd.

      Quick observations:

      1) Jenn W. has really stepped up her game! It is quite reminiscent of the stretch two years ago when Megan Vogel went on her tear. . .

      2) Jill Young is going to be a very fun player to watch during the next three-plus years.

      3) The officials were dreadful. . . utterly dreadful. Summit Plan Version 2 better place an emphasis on improved officiating, especially given the fiascoes that have occurred this year during games involving the conference's premiere WBB program.

I have to disagree with you on number 3. I paid to see the refs and I got my moneys worth. For once, they called all 54 fouls. They couldn't have called a better game. I mean, come on, there wasn't a minute that went by that they weren't involved in the game. Thanks again for a great game!!

Jill Young had at least three really good assists. Very bright play at her age.

Rep points to you. After all it''s not the kids on the court that count. Its the refs we come to see to make sure that they call every thing that they see. What would an NFL game be if it weren;t for yellow flags and whistles. The refs need to pay for their SAG and AFTRA dues somehow

I just got home and hardly remember this game. That men's game was one for the ages.

I know AJ likes to rotate players a lot, but I think Wark could have went for 40 tonight if she would have played more. Their offense just went into a funk when she wasn't in the game. She absolutely dominated Oakland inside. I was suprised Rotert didn't assert herself more, she seemed uncharacteristically quiet tonight. Jill Young was definately the No.2 tonight. Geez she has a quick release.

I was suprised they couldn't bury Oakland to be totally honest. They just hovered at that 12-14 range and then it got under 10 later in the 2nd half. FT shooting was pretty brutal in the 2nd half, 50% maybe? Like I said before, more Wark and that game was 20 plus.

I'm not surprised that Oakland gave our ladies a good game. Oakland's not a bad team at all. And the dreadful refereeing, I think, tends to keep games closer by preventing teams from going on significant runs.

edit - adding my play of the game: Jill's missed free throw/board and step back to can the 3....sort of a backwards...old school 4 point play.

the blond haired one WAS the main problem. she didnt have a clue. and it seemed the other two had makeup calls after her horrible calls. why do they not let the woman play , like they do the men. the only good thing with the fouls: it lasted longer and there wasnt so much time inbetween games

I actually think this is the crew that AJ made a comment in the post-game interview regarding you just didn't know what they were going to call as a foul. I told the group I was with the blonde was the worst before the game started, and she didn't let me down.

I really don't know how Oakland kept it that close. I would look at the scoreboard and realize that they were still in it. The play of the game you liked by Jill was very nice. But the play I liked was she had been driving all game. She went to drive and two players went with her. She passed it back (for the life of me right now I can't remember who she threw it too) to a team mate for an open shot. I knew Jill was a great shooter in high school, but I wasn't expecting to see her drive to the basket as much as she does. That will really open up the 3 for her.

Oakland goes away from this game knowing that they can play with the Jackrabbits any night, that worries me a bit, just a little bit. We gave up way too many easy lay-ups, way to many. If Oakland would have shot the ball like Creighton did last year (granted not many teams will ever shoot as well as CU did last year) we would have gotten drilled. The crowd was large in numbers but a little quiet, again, made noise when things got close and thats what matters I suppose.

This team has got some work to do yet if its really going to be a special year. Ketty and Kristin R. can play better and more consistently as I am confident they will. I think some on here that we might walk through the conference schedule without any challenges and then get complacent. Well, I think we can safely say that isn't happening and that is probably a good thing.

Lets drill IPFW on Monday night.

The officials turned that into a 2 hour game. Couldn't get into any kind of flow because of the touch fouls and all the traveling calls.

I definitely agree about the officiating. You take the officiating out of the picture and the Jacks put on a bit of a run and it's all over.

I think another factor about the officiating is that the Jacks players were never 'comfortable' with it. They weren't able to settle into a zone where they could be sure about what would be called and what wouldn't.

Someone needs to tell the women's refs that basketball is contact sport.

                              Geez.

Regarding Oakland's comparative ability--what I noticed was that they were better about responding to momentum shifting plays--e.g. the Jacks getting a stop and a 3 (or, more likely, a 3 point play).

That was just an awful call, rotten because (if memory serves) the same ref had just handed Muck her 3rd personal foul on a similarly iffy call at the other end of the court. And then to turn around and call Boever on that block.........

Maybe, next year, if the Jacks are really lucky, they'll get this ref for the NDSU game. If she was there last Saturday, I'd almost bet the Bison would've had to forfeit--as they still fouled out 3 players in a game that was, apparently, officiated by a crew on loan from the WWE.
