We should get a new coach, AJ cant recruit, all he can pull in is only small town kids from SD, how can we expect to win? Get used to a 20 game loss season.
Sarcasm in bold intened to make fun of those on the men's bb thread who love to get on their high horse when our team loses.
Seriously, one loss is not the end of the season. If this was the Summit tourney in SF I would be worried, but I am sure AJ will regroup and we run the tables. We got a good program and we all know it. These things happen. Also being rated kind of makes us a target especially in the Summit League.
Bad night. They'll shake it off. Maybe this will cure them of the slow starts. The Top 25 is nice, but really, it's not what matters. Win most of the rest (or all) and win the conference tourney. Those early quality wins are still quality wins.
Much agree. Needed wake-up call for the ladies.
Anybody in the league can beat you. It's your job to make sure that doesn't happen--you're not going to be given a win, you have to earn it through hard and effective play.
If you're not ready to play, you're ready to be beaten. Necessary lesson delivered by the Golden Grizzlies.
Obviously wanted to see the win, but I don't feel that bad about this loss. It takes the pressure off and they can get back to focusing on each game. Would rather have it happen now and be hot going into the tourney(s)
#21/23 was a quick leap and hopefully will be back soon enough. I can live with 14-2.
Like AJ's comment: "Unrealistic to expect anyone to go undefeated in the league." I think there is a lot of truth to that. It's a lot of games to win in a row and doesn't allow for off nights.
Just got back from the game. The Jacks played bad. Shots did not fall, the refs were their typical bad. Outrebounded, and close in shots just did not make it. Very physical inside with the calls going Oaklands way.
During warmups Oakland stayed on the court for ten minutes longer than the Jacks did and you could tell they wanted it more. The only good thing about this game was they let the first thousand in free. Which means every one there got in free. When we pulled into the O'rena area there were tons of people heading that way, but once inside the place was empty, every one was headed to other parts of the athletic complex. School starts tommorrow, students on campus and no one at the game. Think State students are bad. On a positive. On an opponants travel call the student section of OU yells You can't do that, Me and another State fan started to do it to them when they travelled and the OU students quit doing it.

I didn't get to listen to the game and have to say my jaw dropped when I saw the final on here. N ot a suprise that we may lose a game or two in conference although on paper they are all mismatches. The old cliche applies. That's why they play the game.
What matters is how they react to it. All I know is the coach of our next opponent just said, "Oh, crap! Now we are going to have to play a pissed off Jacks team!"
My guess is this will be a good thing in the long run!
i was listening to the game on the radio, & during the run to get within two, it seemed like the jacks were working it in underneath & scoring on just about every posession, really closing in fast, everything clicking, got to within 2, oaklands ball , they score to make it a 4 point game , & then it's like someone said" ok, this seems to be working, let's try something else", i mean, bombs away on two missed 3 pt. try's ,total loss of any momentum, we'd gained. It was very troubling to get to within 2 & let them get right back up to a double didgit lead again.but, i think the rabbit women just had a bad game, it happens , & i don't think over criticising(sp)does any good ,so i'll shut up now, time to start a new win steak , go get'm ladies!
We'll have to get to the tournement the hard way, winning the conference tournement .
At the start of the second period the Jacks came out intense and were causing problems. You could kind of see some panic in Oaklands faces but then the Jacks just stopped the intensity and OU regrouped. The shots quit dropping for the Jacks and that was it. Oakland was getting tired during that time and if the girls would have kept it up things could have been different. But it seemed every combination AJ tried just didn't work. Ketty tried but her shots just don't fall anymore, and no I don't Rock.
A) Bad game, girls weren't hitting bunnies, or the tre's, Oakland did a GREAT JOB in getting transition buckets, and hitting their FT.
B) Just looking at our schedule, and how each team was supposed to be in the Summit this year, it was pretty clear that this game at Oakland had the highest chance for an L of any of the Summit games.
C) As long as the women come back ready to take it to the rest of the league and return the favor to Oakland at Frost, the only victim of this loss will be the top 25 ratings. They were nice, but only help with the seedings in the NCAA tourney.
Oakland has a good team. It would help the Summit immensely if there are more of the Oakland/SDSU talented teams than the Centenary talented teams.
I'm sure we all weren't expecting the women's team to go the rest of the year undefeated. They have a huge bullseye painted all over them and every team wants to be the one to beat them. Oakland came out with the "Beat State" attitude. One of the posters stated State was taking it to them down low then the team seemed to start throwing up the threes. I know we usually shoot the 3 at a good percentage, but we depend on it too much at times. I also agree about feeling sorry for our next opponent. These women are going to be on a mission and open a can of whoop ask!
Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!--Bluto--
this loss will hurt our
1. RPI
2. Ranking
3. NCAA tournament seed
but i do think a loss occasionally only benefits the team. i don't think we would have wanted to go into the ncaa tournament not having had a loss since way back in november.
