Game over, Good to see the break didnt have an effect on the team. But, there always is, the defense allowed a ton of points tonight. Unless they decided to give UNI a christmas present tonight and let them score.

Good win for the Jacks. I did expect it to be a bigger margin but we seemed to have the game under control 4 or 5 minutes into the second half. UNI really never threatend but did hang around. 82 - 69 !

Onto conference play we go.

game notes for the uni game.

Sophomore point guard Macie Michelson has missed the last 10 games since she suffered a hand injury suffered before the Oregon game. Michelson, who is set to return in early January.

Macie did not hold back. Sounds like she was banging away, diving on the floor and taking the charge. That's how she plays.

Maria on with Tyler and she has excellent verbal skills. Nice young lady.

Just goes to show how hard it is to beat this team.

It's not like an opposing team can come in and say, "well, if we can contain __________ we've got a shot of beating them."

Tonight's hero? Maria Boever. Who will it be next? Who knows? It's pretty amazing that it could be any one of about 8 different players.

BTW--Jill Young pulled down more than her fair share of rebounds again...

Good win...on the road, holiday break! This is off topic, but I posted the following on TV's blog:

I noted that Deb Antonelli (Westwood One WBB analyst) had San Diego State 24th on her ballot in this week's AP poll. I have to believe she meant to pick South Dakota State...no comparison between the two school's records. San Diego State is 7-3, 0-2 against top 50, Sagarin of 84; Our SDSU, 12-1 (now 13-1) 3-1 against top 50, Sagarin of 19.

Hey!!! How sweet was Tyler's intro tonight!!! As he was talking about Macie's return to the lineup, the background music being played was "WE ARE FAMILY" (Sister Sledge?) "I've got all my sisters with me".

Drove up to Cedar Falls from Cedar Rapids and saw my first Jackrabbit women's game since 1972 when I covered the AIAW version for the Collegian. Nice contingent of SDSU fans there. Jacks should have beaten the Panthers by 20+ but gave up too many easy points. Quickness of KK Armstrong caused some problems, although I think she got away with some travels and scored once on a prayer as the shot clock wound down. Expected to see more 3-point shooting, but that obvsiously was an emphasis of UNI's defense. Fun team to watch.

UNI was annoying when I was in school (and that was obvsiouly a while back) and not much has changed. Had to listen to the Panther growl several times and the PA announcer talked while 'Rabbits were shooting free throws several times. You could excuse it once, but not 4 or 5 times.

Nice new arena, however.

Hope the Jackrabbits make it to the NCAA and get assinged to the Ames regional. Definitely a team of "basketball players".

Yeah. Well, they played music while the Jacks were in huddle at the UNIdome during the football game there too. Legal apparently, but still absolutely class-less

At least SDSU does things with class. Fan behavior isn't entirely within SDSU's control but the band and PA are, and SDSU doesn't play dirty there.

Listened to the game and I agree with several of you that we are nearly unstoppable on offense with a great perimeter game and two of the best post players in the nation. My biggest concern is with our defense. I think the women could be a shut-down type defensive team if they put their mind to it. You can't always count on the 3-point shot and Jen or Maria could get hurt or have an off night. I would like to see our defensive intensity crank up. We let UNI, a pretty bad team, score 69 points and I think that is too many.

I'm sure AJ will be cranking things up on the defensive side of the ball as we go through the conference season. Defense never lets you down and the cliche is very true, it wins championships.
