    Re: 2009 Recruits

not a bad game for Eide either. 17 points 8 boards and a lot of assists. she can bring the ball up court and pass well.

hope AJ and Mellum are there watching. sign up Walters now.

      Re: 2009 Recruits

I think they wanted to redshirt Lingle to give her time for strength and conditioning training, which, IIRC, is what they did with Cala Westergard. SDSU may continue to redshirt their centers for that reason....

Eide is the most ready to play at the next level.

I believe Westergard was recovering from some major knee problems.

I believe she had some work done, but AJ said several times this season that if she hadn't redshirted she would be playing & contributing this year.

Eide and Walters both make all tourney team. Lingle, Paluch and Heiser too.

Paluch took home Spirit of Su as well.

For those who don't know about that award:

"...created as a memorial for SuAnne Big Crow. She was best-known for her accomplishments on the basketball court, but academic acheivement and community involvement were equally important to her. The Spirit of Su is given to an outstanding high-school athlete participating at this tournament who not only shares SuAnne's dream and drive for academic and athletic excellence, but also strives to make life better for others through community service. The players are judged in the categories of outstanding athletic ability, leadership, character, sportsmanship, and grade point average. The beautiful colors of the quilt are symbolic of the four races of people. SuAnne had a dream that all races could compliment each other and live in harmony, thus making the world as beautiful as the quilt..."

In other words, we're getting a great player and a great person.

Congratulations to the future Jackrabbits that played in the South Dakota state tournament. I'm sure it was extra exciting for them to be playing in Frost Arena.

Word I got from the tournament was that Heiser looked the most ready to fit into the system that AJ runs. This was second hand from someone who was there.

I think that would be true. She does need a little minor surgery on her ankle/foot during the off-season, that might change plans regarding a redshirt or might not, we'll find out. She will be following some pretty big foot steps. Her aunt is Karla Stevenson and her mom is Pam Stevenson. Karla is a legend and Pam was a good player as well.

Leah Dietel's team starts state tournament action tonight. Here's an article on Leah and a teammate from the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Some comments from Sam Ostarello in the Rapid City paper regarding SDSU. Would be fun to see the Jacks play Purdue in the future.
