I think if we stay within 20 of Maryland it will be great.
Thank you voice of reason. To think we are going to beat Maryland is a little premature. Lets take care of our conference games and compete against the rest of the nation. Maryland is one of the top DI programs in the nation. We are not.

Amen guys...Maryland gets 1005 votes in the AP top 25 poll to rank third in the nation, we get one to get our name on the also mentioned list. We saw Maryland play last year in the Bahamas...and we're good, but not that good. They did lose Shay Doran, but have two pre-season All American candidates, so they will be good. Having said that, I'm excited to watch us play them to see where we do stack up.
well its good that we are playing them on our first game in Cancun, that way we will be fresh and ready to go. I don't know why their are so many doubters on this message board saying oh they're rated number 3, we are not one of the top D1 programs in the nation like they are. we have a good team this year, and we WILL compete with them. I actually feel Maryland is preseason rated too high, I think they should prolly be around 10 in the polls. Only time will tell how we do against them, i hope we play well!

Not to take anything away from our team, but we aren't one of the top teams in the nation like Maryland. Maryland is a perennial top 10 team and contender for a national championship. SDSU is a 40-50 RPI team that lost in the first round of the NIT's last year. Now I'm not saying that we can't compete with them on a given night and that we don't have a chance against them in Cancun, but a victory over Maryland would be considered a huge upset by pretty much everyone.
SDSU has come along way since we've made the move up, but we still aren't at Maryland's level and probably never will be. We should strive to be the Gonzaga type team of women's basketball. A top of the line mid-major team who is consistently in the polls, visible on a national scene, and capable of winning a game or two come NCAA tourney time.

I'm hoping that the Jacks can become a bit of a dynasty, like LA Tech was through the 80-90's. 2006 was the first time in 20+ years that LA Tech didn't make the NCAA. They were so disappointed that they turned down the WNIT invite (best of their conference, not in NCAA)
With the win tonight over Utah and hopefully a win over Oregon on Sunday I would think we will continue to move up. The big one is the first game in Cancun against Brenda Frese and the perennial power Maryland Terrepins!

Maryland does have a loss this year proving that they can be beat. Just trying to be opptimistic. Hopefully we are fresh and deep with no injuries going in and i havent checked Maryland for how deep they play but maybe that if they are not as deep that can be to our advantage. try to out score um and out run um. So how many more wins till we get more votes and get ranked. That will be awesome.
