Pierre beats Roosevelt. Paluch has 22, Lingle 12. Another good nite for the future Jacks:

Paluch finished as the game's high scorer with 22 points, eight in the final 90 seconds. It was her third straight game of 20 or better. She is the first Lady Govs player in team history to string three straight 20-point games in a row. Pierre Hall-of-Famer Karen Hasek twice had back-to-back 20-point games in the 1983 season.

"Steph has played very well for us and is doing a lot of good things," said Kannegieter. "Her teammates are doing a good job of getting her the basketball."

It helps when Pierre's coach is a Jackrabbit and Lingle's Dad played FB for the Jacks as well.

            Alison Anderson Sr.
            Maria Boever Sr.
            Ketty Cornemann Sr.
            Laura Neilsen Sr.
            Macie Michelson Jr.
            Kristen Rotert Jr.
            Jen Shuttloffel Jr.
            Jill Young So.
            Vannessa Johnson So.
            Jennie Sunnaborg So.
            Cala Westergard So.
            Katie Lingle Fr.
            Steph Paluch Fr.

That is 13 scholarship players that I know of, the NCAA allows 15 and from what I remember in reading, SDSU wants to be at the max. allowed by 2009. So who are the other two? And be specific with names because I really don't believe your roomates neighbor's second cousin once removed. That is not a reliable source.

            Go State!!!
Being from out of state I am not able to follow all the lady BB players. I am familiar with Vanessa Johnson, but can someone give me some statistics for these girls, (listed above) who are currently in high school but have at least verballed their intentions to attend SDSU in the future. I am not familiar with Sunnaborg or Westagard, I guess the other two are from Pierre. How tall are they and where do they currently attend school? I also did not follow all the past discussion on this topic but are there any more scholarships available or are we full based on the above information provided these recruits follow through an attend SDSU?

Tara Heiser from Watertown has verballed also. She would be a Freshmen with Paluch and Lingle.

                Re: 2009 Recruit

Boxer Boy, here is the signing info on the 2008 recruits:

Signing on the first day of the fall signing period were:
                • Vanessa Johnson, 5-9, guard, Hartford, S.D.;
                • Jennie Sunnarborg, 6-2, center, Osseo, Minn.; and
                • Cala Westergard, 6-2, center, Charles City, Iowa

Johnson enters her senior season at West Central High School having already surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career. As a junior, she led the team with averages of 21.8 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 steals per game, while shooting 79.5 percent from the free throw line. A member of the Class A all-state first team and Sioux Falls Argus Leader Second Five in 2007, Johnson is a two-time all-Big 8 Conference selection and four-year letterwinner. She also has competed in volleyball, track and field and club softball, helping lead West Central to the Class B state softball title this past spring.

Sunnarborg helped lead her Osseo High School team to a section title and appearance in the Minnesota Class AAAA state tournament in 2007. An all-Northwest Suburban Conference selection, she led the league in blocked shots with an average of three per game. She also averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game, shooting 75 percent from the foul line. Her extensive AAU playing experience most recently has included playing for the Minnesota Lady Suns. In addition, Sunnarborg has lettered twice in track and field. Active in many community activities, she also is an honor roll student.

Westergard is a three-time all-conference selection who has earned all-state honors from the Iowa Newspaper Association each of the last two seasons at Charles City High School. A second-team all-state selection as a sophomore, she averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, shooting 60.5 percent from the field. As a junior, Westergard earned third-team all-state honors with averages of 9.6 points and 7.7 rebounds despite missing time due to injury. She also has played at the club level for the Iowa Select team. She is a member of the National Honor Society.

Cala Westegard is not playing this, her senior year. She had two ACL tears in her knee. No stats for her.

As far as Sunnarborg, you can see her stats here:

                    Re: 2009 Recruit

And regards the two Pierre girls (2009 recruits), here is just a little on them:

News story about Pierre-Yankton game: "The Pierre Lady Govs scored 24 points in the first quarter and scored a 54-38 win over the Yankton Gazelles in Eastern South Dakota Conference action Friday night at the Summit Center.
Sophomore Steph Paluch led the way for the Lady Govs as they sprung out to the commanding lead.
The 5-9 guard tipped in a missed jumper, was fouled from behind and converted a 3-point play. Paluch then hustled for a loose ball on the floor and swished in a jumper and closed out the first quarter by stealing an inbound pass at mid-court and pulling up to knock down a short jumper. Being in the right places at the right times helped Paluch score eight points in the quarter.

Paluch finished with 16 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead Pierre. Katie Lingle netted nine points while Sierra Moeller and Loryn Schuetzle each added eight points." (from the boxscore: Steph Paluch 7-8 2-3 16; Katie Lingle 2-5 5-6 9)

And from a newspaper report of the Pierre-Sturgis game: "Katie Lingle had 16 points and Steph Paluch had 17, including one 3-pointer at the end of the second quarter to send the Lady Govs into halftime with a 38-23 lead."

I believe Katie Lingle is a 6-2 center.

Not to be a dick and maybe you know this, but this article is not from this year. It is from last year. Sierra Moeller now plays for Boise State.

Hey, thanks guys for the information, much appreciated. Go Jacks, a WNIT win prior to an NCAA tourney bid would be real nice for South Dakota, a place my heart will always be.

My bad BitsTD. I googled Katie Lingle and got the articles, and it did not give a date. Glad you spotted it. Actually, looks even better, because that is when they were sophomores!
As an aside: going over to Madison to see the 2009 men's recruits (Tony Fiegen and Chad White) play in their district tonight.

Pierre plays Watertown tonite so here's a chance to see all 3 2009 recruits in one game.

Should be fun. I'm guessing we'll see Pauluch and Heiser go head to head for at least a little bit of the game. That just might be appointment TV.
