I will have to go back and watch this one tonight on ESPN+. I will need a diversion from election night coverage anyway, and I would like to see this year's team in action. Without having seen it, it will be interesting to get minutes for our many capable players especially this year.

That's the downside, if you can call it that. of having the deep roster that the coaching staff has put together.
The minutes are gonna get stretched even further when Vlastuin comes back...

Yeah it seems pretty clear that the overall minutes of those players is going to go down with the increased depth. Frankly it also seems clear that the Meyers, Timmer, and Vasecka are going to be the go to scorers on this team. Everyone else is going to have to find their 4-8 ppg within the system. There will be days when they are hot and go off but there will be days when they are spending more time on the bench because someone else is hot. It's nice to have the depth to be able to play a hot hand versus having to play what you have.

The good thing about the post depth is that AJ can afford to give Brooklyn a little breather every now and then, which he couldn't really do last year. I'm not sure how she continued to play as well as she did last season with all the minutes she had to play. As far as the bench players go, there will be plenty of games, especially when we hit the conference, where there will be minutes for the bench. But last night wasn't one of them.

Has there been any speculation on a timetable for the return of Vlastuin? Also, I'd imagine Behrens could grab some minutes whenever her time comes as well.

Without seeing the stats it's hard to believe, but in conference play Brooklyn was 23rd in minutes per game. Madison M was 11th, Paige was 12th, Tori was 14th.

On the pregame interview last night, AJ said Vlastuin and Behrens would be starting some half-court, walk-through type practice with the team in the next couple days.

We actually outshot Rice, as improbable it would seem how shots weren't falling at all early in the game, Defense counts because we kept them down in their home gym , and ended the game outshooting them. This surprised me looking at the stats.

I was wondering about this but after watching the replay I get it. Thiessen got the defensive rebound and immediately called timeout which brought the ball out to half court for the Jacks to inbound and run out the last .8 seconds.

Not sure if the possession arrow was in Rice's favor. If that was true then I see it even more. Make sure Rice couldn't go for the tie up and get the ball out of bounds on their end.

Right after Rice used their final timeout i recall Tyler saying that SDSU still had timeouts and the possession arrow pointed in the direction of Rice. (My paraphrase, not Tyler's exact words.)

Minor quibble -- Tyler did pxp for MBB. I think Brad Peterson was the WBB pxp announcer.

The fact that the ball advances to the other end of the floor in the women's game made calling a TO there a no-brainer. Nearly impossible for Rice to get a steal and heave it more than 1/2 court when we are inbounding in front of our bench.

I forgot that that happens in women’s basketball. Even though Rice did it on that play right before.
