But I don't think of her as core player, more of a specialist. The others you can build a team around with a few more pieces.
It’s easy to undervalue someone like Irwin if you’re just paying attention to who makes and misses shots, but her toughness in terms of defense and rebounding has been huge for two years now. She was a big part of the best SDSU team in history just 11 months ago and this game would have been over at halftime without her defense.

You're 100% right. She has not been on my favorite player list. But with what she has been doing as of late she is growing on me, and as it stands she needs to be on the floor. She probably cost us the game against Oregon last year though (at Frost).

I agree with this. I think AJ knows what he’s doing when he puts her in the starting lineup.

Tylee Irwin is the Jacks' best defensive player, by far, and she is probably the team's quickest and most athletic player. She gets her hand on balls that other players can't get close to. She might struggle shooting from time to time, but her other strengths more than make up for it. I'm glad that she'll be back for next season.

I guess I might be in the minority about this but I do not want to see USD in the sweet 16. You could maybe convince me that it would be good for them to win their first game but it wouldn’t break my heart one hit if they got blown out in the first round. I feel like we have made a reputation for ourselves and people in the women’s basketball world know who the jackrabbits are we don’t need any help from them.

Tylee won't win DPOY next year due to Flopping Sjerven, but she will be right there. She is a really good player, I just wish she would be more aggressive with her drive game. Her jumper is fine, just needs to use the glass and get downhill more. She can rise up and hit that 6 footer or get fouled.

We need that option if teams take away our posts, we seemed to lack offensive options without Myah on the floor this year.

I will echo a lot of the comments about Tylee. Great length which makes her a great defender. If she could increase her scoring average she could be a Watayshek type player.

Any victory by a league member benefits SDSU in the future. As long as they aren't beating SDSU to make the Sweet 16. Besides, they will just be following the trail the Jackrabbits made...again

Thirty-two (32) spots in the Postseason WNIT will be filled automatically by the best team available in each of the nation's 32 conferences, after the NCAA Tournament committee makes its picks.
                      1. A team that is offered an automatic berth by the WNIT shall be the team that is a.) the highest-finishing team in its conference's regular-season standings, and b.) is then not selected for the NCAA Tournament. It does not matter what the team's overall record is. For the automatic qualifying berth, the WNIT believes that a team's conference record is a more fair comparison among teams within their own conference, and that the conference record should pre-empt overall records among teams from the same conference. The automatic qualifying team is rewarded with the AQ spot for its in-conference play.
                      2. Should a conference's automatic qualifier team decline the WNIT invitation, then the conference forfeits its AQ spot and that berth goes into the at-large pool.
                      3. In the event of a tie among teams under consideration for the WNIT automatic berth, the WNIT will abide by conference bylaws that have been set up specifically to address a tie-breaking situation in that specific conference.
                      4. In the event of a tie among teams with identical conference records and there are no specific bylaws to address it, the WNIT will recognize the conference tiebreaker, and select the team with the best seed for its conference tournament.
                      5. Multiple-division conferences receive one WNIT automatic berth. The qualifying process is the same as that for single-division conferences. However, if a conference designates more than one top seed (i.e. a No. 1 seed for each division), then the conference office shall determine, before its conference tournament begins, a seeding order for WNIT purposes.
Yes, thanks here too, for looking it up and clarifying it for us.

I don't have issues with Tylee but reading game threads a lot are critical. I look at her as a Lexi alexander type. Out there doing a lot of things and scoring is a major one. would be huge if she became a more consistant 3 point shooter.

With that said, can you even expect a true freshman to be a PG? (if she even fits that model, IDK) Lindsay looks to be the one to take Rylie's place, but I just don't think she can cut it (with what we know now), she is too prone to turnovers. Lauren must not be able to cut it either or we would have seen more of her to get her some experience. IMO, we are left with maybe getting a grad transfer, or a JUCO (have we had one lately/ever that I can't remember). Our other option is to develop Tylee into the PG, IDK if that can be done or not? If we get Myah back and Madysen V is the shooter I think she might be, we will have enough outside options with Sydney and Lindsay too (plus others, if they continue to develop). We also don't know what we have in Regan, Emily, and Mesa when it comes to shooting. If we put out a starting lineup with 4 6'+ players with more 6'+ reserves in the weeds, we maybe don't have to be overpowering from the 3pt line. JMO.
Last Juco I remember was Ena Viso from ...can't remember ,Northeast CC, Denmark? We got her for her junior and senior year as a Jack the same time USD got Trimboli (sp?)....2015-2016?

Is the juco as big of a market for talent in the womens game as it is for the mens?

I think it's because people have high expectations for her (me included). She played really well today.

I was critical of Larson for part of the year for not being a dominant player, she was awesome the last 2 weeks and showed what she was capable of today. Same with Rylie, they both were great today.

They play like that in the WNIT and they'll win a few games.
