Good luck ladies and Go Rabbits!
basically nailed it. go a head and toot your horn on this one.

I was always under the impression that the top team in each Conference not going to the NCAA Tournament was already offered a spot in the WNIT. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thuenick and Stapleton if they work hard during the off season might get some more playing time but not sure they can really handle the scoring load that would be needed.
Tylee Irwin has another year too, right?

Yes, I think so. not sure how many jacks fans will like that. She plays great D and effort, but her offense needs to be more consistant. missed some shots that should have been more then makeable. but she should be back yes. But I don't think of her as core player, more of a specialist. The others you can build a team around with a few more pieces.

There is 64 spots in WNIT. They have at-large teams as well.

Doesn't the best team in a conference not to make the NCAA tourney get an auto-bid?

That game was so fun. My throat hirts. I wish we could redo a couple of those first possessions of the 4th quarter, those couple turnovers set the tone for the rest of the 4th.

Like our 08 09 team, it (almost) would've been a shame for that USD squad to not have been dancing the right way.

                  Selecting Teams: Automatic Berths
Thirty-two (32) spots in the Postseason WNIT will be filled automatically by the best team available in each of the nation's 32 conferences, after the NCAA Tournament committee makes its picks.
                  1. A team that is offered an automatic berth by the WNIT shall be the team that is a.) the highest-finishing team in its conference's regular-season standings, and b.) is then not selected for the NCAA Tournament. It does not matter what the team's overall record is. For the automatic qualifying berth, the WNIT believes that a team's conference record is a more fair comparison among teams within their own conference, and that the conference record should pre-empt overall records among teams from the same conference. The automatic qualifying team is rewarded with the AQ spot for its in-conference play.
                  2. Should a conference's automatic qualifier team decline the WNIT invitation, then the conference forfeits its AQ spot and that berth goes into the at-large pool.
                  3. In the event of a tie among teams under consideration for the WNIT automatic berth, the WNIT will abide by conference bylaws that have been set up specifically to address a tie-breaking situation in that specific conference.
                  4. In the event of a tie among teams with identical conference records and there are no specific bylaws to address it, the WNIT will recognize the conference tiebreaker, and select the team with the best seed for its conference tournament.
                  5. Multiple-division conferences receive one WNIT automatic berth. The qualifying process is the same as that for single-division conferences. However, if a conference designates more than one top seed (i.e. a No. 1 seed for each division), then the conference office shall determine, before its conference tournament begins, a seeding order for WNIT purposes.

So a run in the WNIT would be nice or a home game or two.

Thanks. I thought I remembered that right.

My thoughts when it comes to our next PG. Emily Herzberg is the only one of the three listed as a guard for the next class. With that said, can you even expect a true freshman to be a PG? (if she even fits that model, IDK) Lindsay looks to be the one to take Rylie's place, but I just don't think she can cut it (with what we know now), she is too prone to turnovers. Lauren must not be able to cut it either or we would have seen more of her to get her some experience. IMO, we are left with maybe getting a grad transfer, or a JUCO (have we had one lately/ever that I can't remember). Our other option is to develop Tylee into the PG, IDK if that can be done or not? If we get Myah back and Madysen V is the shooter I think she might be, we will have enough outside options with Sydney and Lindsay too (plus others, if they continue to develop). We also don't know what we have in Regan, Emily, and Mesa when it comes to shooting. If we put out a starting lineup with 4 6'+ players with more 6'+ reserves in the weeds, we maybe don't have to be overpowering from the 3pt line. JMO.

It would be great to see a Summit school in the Sweet 16 back-to- back years. It only helps us in the future. From the last bracketology, USD would be in the same bracket as Oregon (#1) and UConn (#2). They would end up playing the Huskies in the round of 16.
-South Dakotan by birth, a Jackrabbit by choice.

Great effort by the ladies. The no call on Larsen was huge. State wasn’t going to give up any points in transition. Shots went up and players got back.
“The Big Flop” was comical. Rylie runs her over then Boltsma can’t even get through her....Hmmmm....Why refs fall for that is beyond me.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love when our teams wear the blue road uniforms. Love the blue!

Way to battle ladies. Champions go down with a fight....
