    Re: Next Years Roster

    Next years projected depth
    PG - Verdegan / Anderson / Micholson/Helsper
    SG - Cornemann /Rotert / Muck/Meier
    SF - Warkenthien / Oistad/Rotert/ Meier
    PF - Boever / Oistad / Shuttlafel
    C - Grimsrud / Nielsen / Kratovil

I think Ketty can play the 2 and get better production than we have had as a team from there. She is willing to take the shot when it is available. Wark is always around the 3 pt line and can play the 3 to make it possible to start Ketty and Boever!

I think Muck brings intangibles but I feel she can be a spark of the bench!

    thoughts anyone??

      Re: Next Years Roster

I think anyone who can step out and hit a 3 point shot will be able to play the 3 as long as we can handle the pressure...which we should be able to most of the time. They run a motion offense quite a bit that it won't matter who is at the 3 unless we have match up problems. Vogel posted quite a bit too this year. Maria will probably shoot more 3s next year too coming from that "post" spot.

And in reference to an earlier post...I don't ever see Ketty playing the point....

Ketty will never play the Point! Where did you ever get that thought from?

she played it on and off in high school, im not saying she would be the premeir point but if they were going up against a big team she could handle it.

I agree. She did play it some in high school, but is a 2 or 3 at this level.

                  Re: Next Years Roster

Someone mentioned hitting the 3 next year. Hitting the 3 is a big part of our offense and whoever puts in the time this summer to improve their 3 point shot will earn more playing time. I am under the impression that if we had hit our 3 point shots in the post season up to our capabilities that we would have beaten Illinois State by 20, Indiana by 15 and the Wyoming game would have went down to the wire. I also feel we have to hit the weight room this summer. The refs are allowing more and more bumping underneath and in th lane. We missed some lay ups and short shots where a foul could have been called but was not. Womens basketball is getting a lot more physical and the answer to that is the weight room. After having a taste of the post season, I am sure that there will be no lack of effort from our Jackrabbit team this summer to get back to the post season next year. Every time I think about what these girls accomplished this season, I end up smiling.

                    Re: Next Years Roster

It's going to be really interesting to see who steps up next year and becomes the leaders on the offensive side. The team is so young and they will all get so much better after a year of experience under their belt. Plus, they won't be able to wait for Megan to take the shot.

This team is loaded with talent and I agree with others that an aggressive offseason program will help a lot. One thing is for sure, they all learned how to work hard in the offseason from Megan and I'm sure they have already started to get after it!

                    Can't wait for next year!

Ketty can't play PG at D1 and Warkenthein can't play the SF. Sure Jen can hit the 3 at a decent clip for a PF, but she only shoots 29% from 3-land. Plus she just doesn't have the quickness to defend the other teams 3 spot, which is usually reserved for the most athletic person on the floor. Jen gets most of her points posting up or driving against slower power forwards, she has a decent set shot but is not a jump shooter.

I agree with both of those assesments! Ketty will make a good 3 and Jen at the 4. Ketty reminds me a lot of Vogel in many ways and will really be a strong force for us next year!

The player that I thought was most improved for us this year was Courtney Grimsrud. She really held her own and was much more productive than I was figuring going into the year. She has such a great touch when she shoots and those long arms block a lot of shots!

                          Re: Next Years Roster

I think AJ and his staff should decide where each player fits in our offense. I personally likes our team better this year when we went with a "3-guard" kind of look with a lot of motion. I like the way AJ expects a push upcourt off of missed baskets as this allows us to take advantage of a deep bench that will remain that way. I think we will still struggle if the outside shot doesn't fall and we definitely need someone to be the "floor leader". Great things should be expected of this team next year and I am sure they will work hard to meet expectations.

;D  I am in support of all the Jack's and their future, but if you once again look at the production of the 7 players who had over 17 minutes/game of playing time, (minutes played vs stat's) Ketty is 6th in rebounds, 7th in points, 7th in steals and 7th in assists for the Jack's. She needs to prove leadership in one or more of those areas before a key role should be given. Muck is in the same situation, and that is why I believe the 2 & 3 spot is wide open next season. As for Courtney, she is 2nd in rebounds, but her other minutes per prodcution stat's are 4th in points, 6th in steals and 6th in assits. Much inproved from the previous year, but much room for improvement remains.

You can't argue with the stats, but I felt like Courtney was very efficient in what she did do. She got timely rebounds and had a good field goal percentage (at least that was my impression). Good D, timely rebounds and efficient scoring is a nice combo from a post player.
                              Holy nutmeg!

I thinking asking her to rebound, score a little over 10 a game and play good defense is what you can expect from Courtney.
