    Re: Next Years Roster

Courtney is a center, not a PG. Why wouldn't her stats be low in steals and assists, that's how most centers stats are. As far as ketty's per minute stats, it would be interesting to see how they compare from her first 10 games compared to her last 10 games. She was a true freshman who played alot better towards the end of the year. Plus when Verdegan was out against NDSU I believe AJ started cornemann. not sure though.

Stats mean nothing it is Wins & losses that matter!  Also, it is not who starts the game but who is hot when the game is on the line.  We could start any five we wanted and they may only get 12 minutes that game, b/c the best players (THAT NIGHT) are  on the floor at the end

          Re: Next Years Roster

I propose we hire an expert to analyze the make-up of the current roster and evaluate the new players.  That expert would then be expected to select 5 players to start the game and develop a rotation of players to come of the bench depending on adjustments, fouls, fatigue, injury, etc...  Seem like a challenging but enjoyable position.  Anyone wish to apply?

Oh wait, we already have a guy named AJ doing that.  Anyone want to challenge him for that job?

A player like Megan Vogel does not come around very often for any program. She brought so much intensity and put a lot of pressure on a defense. I think it will be difficult to maintain the lvel of success we have had the last few years.

AJ and the other players will disagree with your conclusion.  You can't replace any player that leaves a program, you just adjust and try to get BETTER.  That seems unlikely to a lot of people but I can tell you AJ and our players expect just that and nothing less.  The day you agree to join the SDSU family is the day you commit yourself to making our program better when you leave than when you got here.  Don't get me wrong, meeting the challenge for excellence that Megan and her teammates have provided the last 4 years will be tough, but I like our chances.

We also know, from what she has said recently, that Megan wouldn't agree with that.

Well said JackMD. There were naysayers and doubters when Melissa, Shannon, and Brenda, etc. left and they all have been substituted for. I agree, you don't replace. You plug in new members and challenge them to take it to another level and AJ is sucessful in doing just that.

All of what you guys are saying is true. Reality may be a whole different story. Only time will tell, but IMHO after watching Jacks women's basketball for a long time I have never seen a player quite like Megan.

The thing is, there were a dozen girls on this year's team who all saw with their own eyes not only what Megan did on the court, but what she did off of the court to get ready for game time. Hopefully some of that rubbed off on the younger players.

You never know, Megan may tell them to get busy in the off season or she'll come back and kick their butts . . .

Holy Cows! What an assessment! I just figured AJ usually just read this message board and went from there.
Heaven forbid some fans give their opinion on who should start next year. I guess all those guys on ESPN shouldn't ever discuss any probable situations without seeing what the coaches do first.
Thanks for always having such optimistic, enjoyable posts JackMD! Your the Greatest!

Oh cry me a river.  You can speculate all you want, have fun with that.  Just realize someone is making the hard decisions you so easily speculate about.  Each player on the team is expected to contribute what they can regardless of position or rank.  I think its great that so many people know so much about each one of these players.  Just remember, someone is making a decision and plenty of people are affected by that.  That said, I'm probably reading more into the posts than I should, my bad, thanks for the reality check. I'll try and return the favor some day.

I just saw Andrea Verdegan out jogging. It's about 32 degrees, cold, damp and windy here in Brookings. It looks like she's going to be the leader of the team next year.
