Donor money is better spent on facilities, coaches, and other resources.
You don't have to win the war, you just have to have something. Haven't we heard of players staying here and leaving more on the table? Is Kobe Clayborne the most recent example of this?
As an example, $10k from SDSU versus $40k from a bubble Iowa State team? They still gotta pay Crooks, Addy Brown, 9 other players, plus a incoming recruiting class
Wonder if the university has explored Alston payments. Haven't checked how that's impacted by house settlement
Hopp also in the portal. Guess we will have room to bring in transfers.
guess she did not want to follow the Mesa Byom example. I feel like Jenna would have had a big opportunity next year, and it only gets bigger if Timmie ends up gone.

Mesa also was finishing her nursing clinicals among the activities of basketball. Timmie would be doing a masters in some math field which is likely easier to assemble elsewhere. It is tough to watch a talent like Timmie bolt.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

Hopp always played hard, but to me she seemed too small to play forward, and didn't have the offensive game to play on the perimeter. Good player to have available off the bench, but can't blame her for wanting to go somewhere where she can get more minutes.
I brought up mobilizing the donors in the other thread. I'm not sure if they can stop that one, but I'd hope that they could stop this one. Men's side has been hit by the portal before / dealt with the coaching changes. If the women's team is the last innocent thing or the crown jewel, time to pony up and really support the program.
Here is my perspective on this deal. Not calling anyone out, not trying to float my boat. JMO. My extended family has a big plaque on the wall at the Dana. I do not personally. My family (my own) has our name on the wall at First Bank. I am a member of the second to the top tier of donors annually (champions?). I enjoy supporting SDSU, 100%. But if it comes to another “we need money for NIL”, I’m out. It feels like an uphill battle we won’t win. JMO.

I agree with this. We still have quite a ways to go to finish the arena fundraising and personally I'd like to see other facilities and investments (Alston Scholarships). Lets be the best SDSU and not try to play the NIL game that we can't win. Players can still get deals like Grand Falls, BWW that are mentioned here.

That's on me for my crude way of phrasing things in both threads. From the football perspective, I read the posts on bisonville about how excited those guys are for the next collective event based on how that's being handled. From the men's basketball perspective, today I read about a program like Kent State maybe being able to (temporarily?) hold off Fordham from taking their coach through a donation surge / counter-offer. From the wbb perspective, I was on a twitter space 2 days ago where the Ole Miss HC (her team is still playing) was talking about revenue sharing
one final note about NIL since I did hear back from Skim. For anyone who is familiar with Iowa's Lucy Olsen, evidently her offers this past year were $225k plus benefits from Iowa and $200k from LSU. The year prior she was Big East first team averaging 23ppg for Villanova. McKenzie Mathurin a '25 who is now with Michigan after decommitting from Nebraska was asking for $200k from Nebraska
I asked them for a range and cited salem's #'s - asked about Elle Evans NDSU comp, (15ppg 45% from 3) as opposed to Saint Joe's Ziegler (forward averaging 17/10). The response was "Yes. I would say that is realistic. From what I've heard most good MM's are anywhere from 25k to 100k with a handful above."

Justin Sell mentioned Alston payments in recent Happy Hourinterview. He didn't go into specifics, but it was mentioned

Thanks I'll have to listen again. That episode in general was really good. House settlement talks, summit league talks, women's basketball resume, etfc. I know Sell gave Gaskins a NIL quote saying things were set up in a way where it wasn't just athletes receiving $$ - they have to work for it / it's used for daily expenses, $ for parents to be flown in, etc. Justin was very adamant about that. He was even almost talking over Gaskins while John was trying to interject some things (like it not being pay for play) to hammer the point across.

The reference was more in the sense that Alston payments were topic being explored
I was away from my phone, so I didn't hear about Timmer being in portal until a friend mentioned it when I met him and his wife for supper. I thought he was punking me, because Timmer wasn't the first WBB player I expected to hit portal.
Part of me wonders if she might pull a "reverse Gylten" and go to Utah

Skim seemed to think Iowa State would be in the mix ('just off the top of [their] head') and did note that SDSU would be a team to watch for Meister.
I wonder if Kansas State would be an option for Timmer considering the SDSU staff ties
