Played like crap and beat a good team. There is work to be done in practice and thankfully we don't have to question if our coach knows what he is doing. Coach Johnston's teams always seem to improve as the year goes on. Let's hope the needed improvement doesn't take too long!
One hand points to campus...the other to the liquor store.
As ugly as it seems with some of these games, we should recognize that the defense is holding the opposition to 63 points per game. Also, the 8-2 record is somewhat acceptable since the 2 losses are to Top 10 teams. Recently the most alarming number has been the less than average free throw shooting. 66.5% for the year is not where they want to be when the games get called close. Last year the free throw percentage was 77.5%. Tonight also saw a shorter rotation again. Palmer and Mieras did not play. The remaining OOC games will all be difficult. It would be great to get to 9-4 going into the Summit play.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife
A road win against Creighton - that's a very good win, no matter how ugly the game.
If i recall,DePaul blew Creighton away at their place,at Creighton they had a hard fought victory by 2 pts i think.I could look it up ,but it was a different story the 2nd time around and at Creighton for the Blue Devils.
The first quarter was a mess , but I would not complain about this win. This Creighton team (with the injuries) is certainly good enough that they'd be a handful for SDSU and USD if they were in the Summit.
The last two weeks have been far from spectacular offensively, but the team has done enough that the sky is still the limit as far as the post season goes. We still don't have a "bad loss", the kind thing that immediately closes certain doors in terms of seeding potential. Usually there are one or two of those in the OOC season and by the time the Summit season starts you know that the team coming out of Sioux Falls will do no better than the dreaded 13-seed. For now, anyway, there's still hope of something better..
DePaul is coming town in a few days. Huge challenge and huge opportunity. Their last two games were on the road at Notre Dame (L 95-90) and at #15 Texas A&M (W 80-66). They'll be ranked in the top-15. Will the Jacks step up their game?
It is a bit disappointing that there is no report for the Creighton game in the Argus or the online Argus. At least the USD/Washington WBB game earned a note in the paper to look at the online edition for a recap. That game ended an hour later. They did not even get a score in the college basketball score column or an AP release for a recap. It is possible I overlooked the info somewhere. My expectation may be too steep.

As ugly as that game was to watch not sure it was worthy of a story.
