Sporting sweatpants and raging bedhead, I’ve spent the last hour breaking down the 2006 Division I women’s basketball postseason … on my day off. I know, I know.
Nonetheless, the results of my (sad) research:
Of the teams ranked in the top 75 of the NCAA pre-tournament RPI last season, only one that met the criteria required for postseason play was not selected for either the Big Dance or the WNIT: No. 63 Texas Tech (15-14). And of the top 100, only two that finished with 20-plus Division I victories were snubbed: No. 94 Kent State (21-9) and No. 98 Montana (21-7). Those teams each beat one BCS conference opponent.
With eight games remaining, SDSU has 13 Division I victories, including six over BCS clubs. . . . (read more)
