It says there was 8489 at the sdsu usd game in 04.. It just seems odd that in 3 years they've lost nearly 2,000 seats. Even if the name plate is only 8,000 thats 1,500 seats that arn't being utilized.. Thats nearly the size of an average A hs gym. I think something is fishy because thats alot of bleachers there not pulling out... not just 5 rows and part of a section... I think if 8,500 people can fit into frost and that many want to watch it let them... I don't care much for fire marshals thats why god evented cash gifts.

Not a lot to understand. The end bleachers have been replaced by chairs eliminating a lot of seats. The upper bleachers are currently restricted for whatever reason. Capacity is less than it was in the past. The goal should be to lock the door. The number of fans needed to do that is out of our control.

Build a winner and they will come . I do agree with Jackmd, with the changes and creating more comfort with back chairs, many bleacher seats have been reduced. How much or how many is hard to say. The turnstiles should be in use so a good count will be made that way. I would think the staff is working very hard to maximize the attendence. I never heard of the fire marshall being involved in the past, but they have a job to do so maybe there are some concerns. We really dont want a fire with a pack house of fans. : May be 6900 would be my guess.

It has been discussed here before about the South West stairs not being safe and I think partially blocked off. For this reason, this also puts a cap on the upper level capacity. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

2500 seats are still a lot to sell between now and Saturday night. I imagine there will be a large walk-up crowd as there always seems to be for big games.

It has been discussed here before about the South West stairs not being safe and I think partially blocked off. For this reason, this also puts a cap on the upper level capacity. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's is what I've been told. They've been blocked off for about 2 years now. I think they may be fixed this summer though.

Well, 6200+ tickets have been sold as of tonight. They are only going to be selling a 100 or so more. If you don't have a ticket yet, you better get online tonight!

They should be kicking themselves for not getting Frost up to firecode before the season started... If we go deep in the tourney, we've got to have a good chance of hosting each round, and continuing to possibly sell out... Having extra seats would sure come in handy.

Does this tournament attendance get averaged into the season attendance for this season, or do they only count regular season games in the average?

Sorry if this is a bit wayward, but is it true that when Frost was built, the plan was that it would have been bigger. But, somehow throught the state legislature it was stipulated that capacity could not be more than the S.F. arena. I heard this a few years back, just curious.

Capacity at the arena is like 8,000 when they built frost it was over 9,000, maybe there was something with the arena in it but I don't think capcity is it.

the arenas use to hold close to 10,000 at one time, didnt they? then they did the same thing as frost and took some of the bleachers seating out on the sides and put chairs in.

The largest crown for a basketball game is 9456 vs augie in 89 when augie was #1 but when the installed the chairs around the 94-95 season the biggest crowd was around 9000 vs the u.
